Dub and Downbeat Easter!

The Evelyn will be throbbing like a freshly stubbed toe this easter to the tune of melbourne's favourite dub/reggae henchmen (or at least they like to think so) The Mighty Red Eyes!

After completing a successful season at the Prince of Wales in Februrary, the boys want to raise a little more cash before they dissapear for a good few months to record their first album! So folowing careful deliberation over several jugs at the Newry in Nth Fitzroy, THE RED EYES EASTER ALBUM FUNDRAISER was born! Support will be from the incomparable Deep Fried Dub, and the essential DJ Kilroc!

Easter Thursday March 24
Evelyn Hotel 391 Brunswick St, fitzroy
$10 on the Door
Some proceeds got to Deep Fried Dub, some more to Thomas Kilroc and the rest to the Red Eyes recording fund!
Get there early coz its gonna be a biggy!

SOLA ROSA!

After turning out 5 ep's and alubms of his lovingly crafted orgaically flavoured downbeat electro in NZ, Andrew Spraggon aka Sola Rosa is binging his 5 piece show band to Melbourne on Easter Sunday as part of his first Australian tour! The band has been heralded in NZ as the best mix of live and electronic flavour around, probably because its made of top grade musicians, and because Andrew wrote the music that way! Sola Rosa's sound is a seemless blend of organic instrumental and quirky electronic style, easy grooves, and lush texture!

Support will be reggae and roots from the Josh Owen Band, and Hip Hop stlyes from DJs Sayva da Flayva, Jumble, and Dredded MC!

The Red Eyes were good. I was most impressed to be able to tell my "hippy" friends that I went out for some live music on the weekend, because they think i'm only into "techno".

Thanks to all who came to both parties, and those who couldn't but had best intentions (not to be to specific jbs, but thanks heaps for the fat afta party!!!)

Greats nites were had by all red eyes and all sola rosa crew, and there'll be more from both later in the year!!!! Cher!
