I went to Toys 'R' Us. They have a deal going where you get a free game
(ANY of the titles availabile at launch, not just some BS "Toys 'R' Us Free Game List!")

All they want is a $50 deposit.

Only ever owned one console, a shitty PS1...Never owned a Nintendo but was always jealous as a kid of those with Mario Bro's etc.

$400 is a bargain. Should look cool on my massive 41" plasma im getting

Yeah there used to be one under Melbourne Central but it closed in 2003 or summint like that.

Ergh... I got over queuing up at midnight when Halo 2 came out.

Its fun and all to be able to play the games before anybody else but in the end it just means your buggered for work the next day.

I already do. I play nearly 15 hours a week of Battlefield 2... where my team is ranked 4th in the country. Maybe its not suffering but its the hobby i put most of my time into.

Looking at heaps of vids on youtube, and everyone seems to think sony has fucked up on ps3 and the wii will own all. What do others think of this?

The wii will do really well in the short term.. probably for the next year or so. But the 360 and ps3 will kill it over the next few years.
The wii just doesn't have the power to be competitive for long.
Sony are expecting the life span of the ps3 to be 10 years!

Looking at lots of online surveys lately it seems people are split between xbox and ps3, with the xbox holding the lead.
But the majority of these people are also going to purchase a wii as well.

specs on the ps3 are fucking ridiculous. 1k though, sheesh. With the ps1 and the ps2, it took the game developers a couple of years to really unlock the potential of the units. I imagine it will be the same deal with ps3, even more so, so no rush I guess.

1k! Far out,...I'm pretty keen on the 360,...some of the games look pretty sick. I've heard more bad things than good things about the PS3, apparently the software development kit is pretty hard to work with, and sony always seem to be changing things all the time..it will be interesting to see how things play out when it gets released.

word. Wii will kick it. The ps3 will have good support from dedicated gamers but overall i dont think it will sell well. its just too expensive. sony know this thats why they are bringing the price down in japan by 100bones US. i dont think they are going to pass this onto western markets tho.

its going to have some sick games and look awesome, i wager the best of all three (wii dosent really have that much gfx power, its just a beefed up cube). But it wont offer anything new and it will take PCs about 3months to catch up with graphics â€“ if they havenâ€™t already.

its funny, the only real "next generation" console out of the lot has like 1/2 less horsepower for graphics than the other 2.

they summed it up pretty well on "good game" on abc 2 last night if anyone saw it...

I think that the Wii has some great ideas behind it - low cost, full back catalogue download, an innovative control method and great third party support.

PS3 falls down in most departments - it didn't get the first launch in the next gen console wars, it seems vastly overpriced, and it's really, really dependant on graphics as opposed to gameplay to pull an audience. Sony seems to have run with the "fashion accessory" aspect in it's marketing - attempting to do what the iPod has done for the mp3 player market.
