I'm sorry

I'm still finding it difficult to grasp the concept that the good folks at Nintendo chose to call this thing Wii. What. The. Fuck.

I mean seriously.

Take this sentence for example.

"I'm can't wait to get home to play with my Wii controller".

I'm still baffled. Utterly baffled.

That's because you said it wrong. It's a wii-mote.

Asking "Who wants to come over and play with my wii?" sounds a lot worse!

Fuck oath. I'm not really far enough into it to play mimni games yet though. Love playing as wolf link! So freakin cool! The controls work really well for zelda too. Seems a bit fiddly at first, but works a treat when you get used to it.

No limited editions at all which is a bit lame, but it's still pretty.

Best game console ive ever owned, albeit i've actually ever owned a PS1 and Mega drive...

Controllers are great fun, wii sports is classic, im the golf king, -1 under on the 9hole expert already ;)

I also got the game Redsteel. Didnt really play it much (read too much golf), controlls seem a bit fiddly but im sure i'll get used to it.

Cannot wait for Tiger woods golf, Tony Hawk, Super Mario Karts etc.

Graphics arnt that shit hot, but thats not what there going for...

Nintendo To Investigate Wii Strap, Controller Issues
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_i ... tory=12015

Legendary Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto also commented on the problem, saying: "We are encouraging people to understand that you really don't have to be so excited, but rather you need to understand the control and then you're going to be the best player. We are looking into the situation to see if there are additional methods to encourage people to kind of calm down so they would never throw away the controller itself."

Despite on-screen warnings before games to use the strap on the Wii remote to secure it to a player’s wrist, many reports involve gamers who ignore this advice – with controllers flying off to cause damage. In some cases, however, the wrist strap has snapped due to excessive force. The only “additional method” so far offered by Nintendo to reduce the problem is a special Wii glove, meant to avoid sweaty hands from exacerbating the issue.

Ok so the Wii is awesome. I like many other under exercised nerds am
now sore and counting down the hours until I get home.

I got Zelda and of course Wii Sports as well as an additional wii-mote and
nunchuck.

LeeJay : I got mine from Toys R Us and it was a fucking joke.

This is how the night went :

11:45pm - Pimple faced store clerk comes out and advises 100 angry
nerds that the games they had pre selected for their "free game" have
been the victim of a shipping delay and that they would have to wait
another week and come and collect them.

12:30pm - Finally get let into the store and have to wait 45 minutes while
only 3 people in front of my have been served.

1:00am - Walk out proudly holding my new Nintendo and notice that
they have only managed to serve 5 people. 95 to go.

Just played with my Wii (!!) for an hour or so.

Pretty cool. Although it's BADLY missing online games/capabilites at the moment.

Would be awesome if you could play the Wii Sports games online. I haven't read much about the Wii online.... anybody know if there are any plans for this? (Wii Sports online that is...?) Or if we want to play golf or boxing (for example) online, we'll just have to wait until some full golf and boxing games come out that are online?

I thought the Wii was gonna be really gimmicky (even though I've always planned to grab one) and in some ways, it's a total gimmick.... and in other ways it's really cool and works really well.

I guess it's all gonna depend on how the newer games utilize the wii-mote. The Wii Sports games, though fun, are very limited and simplistic, which is to be expected I guess..... although it's a promising start! :)

Nintendo Sued for Patent Infringement
The Wiimote may not be as unique as we thought.

http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/750/750001p1.html

US, December 8, 2006 - In a surprising turn of events, Nintendo is already the target of litigious action concerning its newly released Wii console. California-based Interlink electronics has filed a complaint against Nintendo for what it has deemed to be a case of copyright infringement over the pointing functionalities of the Wiimote.

Gaming blog Kotaku has obtained a court filing, issued by the US District Court of Delaware, which accuses Nintendo of infringing on a patent filed previously by Interlink Electronics. The court filing claims that Interlink Electronics has suffered "loss of reasonable royalties, reduced sales and/or lost profits as a result of the infringing activities of" Nintendo.

The claim refers to a patent filed in February, 2005 which refers to a device titled "Trigger Operated Electronic Device." The patent describes the advice as a "trigger operated device in the nature of a pointing device for use with an electronic system such as a computer." The patent continues to describe a device which, on the surface, sounds an awful like the Wii's controller.

The complaint demands that Nintendo be enjoined and restrained from further infringing on the patent, presumably by taking the Wii off the market. Furthermore, the filing demands that the court order Nintendo to pay Interlink three times the assessed damages, including prejudgment interests and attorney fees. Additionally, the plaintiff is demanding a jury trial of any and all issues pertaining to the case.

you do and that the speaker in the wii-mote makes the lightsaber noise!

Can I just say how cool Wii sports is! It's really basic and all but what I
love about it is I feel half decent about playing video games now.

Reason being is cause if you play almost all of the Wii Sports games, most
notably Boxing, Baseball and Tennis, you get a half decent amount of exercise.

I really like the training modules as well. The Boxing bag tires me out big time!
