Printing Digital Photos
Printing Digital Photos
Any recommendations for good quality printers? I see some awful looking photos come out of some of those self-service machines.
I'm looking for:
1. Quality
2. Inexpensive price for large numbers of standard prints/ few enlargements
3. Accessibility/ease of transfer with online upload etc.
Cheers!

you can print stuff online from ted's.
they can post it too you as well.
I organised some prints for a client. came out a little washed out but i'd put money on the fact that it came from a happy-snap digital.
i've used a self serve machine to print stuff from my d70s and the pics were great

Sammy got a photo printer free when she bought her digi camera, it's a Canon Selphy. (I think they're only about $100 to buy)
Prints directly from your camera, but only Postcard size (6in x 4in). Prints look awesome, sharp as a tack.
re: gloss vs matt, it all depends on the pic. Usualy I prefer B&W shots on Matt paper with a White border, but that's just me

I bought a camera and a CF card from there. The CF card died about 6 months later and despite the promise to replace the card written on the back of the receipt written by a manager, it still took over a month of emails and phone calls before they would acknowledge that it was actually faulty. That and the fact that the manager I dealt with at the time said something to the effect of "I'm not sure why that promise would be written on the back, we've sold heaps of these and have never had a problem with them". After a few weeks of frustration I rang the distributor to check the progress of my warranty claim and they couldn't tell me because they had several of those cards being looked at that vanbar had sent in....
all that drama for the replacement of an $80 card when the total of the receipt was well over $2k. terrible terrible terrible customer service.
I would never recommend that place to anyone.
