God I love this sport...
Check out the slam Fedor takes, then gets on top for the submission.
This is why he's one of the toughest people on Earth. I've never seen a dude recover from such brutal punishment so quickly.
Not really music orientated, but interesting all the same.
These two guys are/were the top of the food chain in MMA - or Randleman (the black guy) used to be until he got done for roids)
Check it....
(I spend quiet days at work glued to this shit . Thought someone might be interested)

(Warning - quite violent)

Fedor fighting in the UFC in the next year or so - then fighting in the MMA superbowl too (Now that the UFC owns Pride), supposedly - for those 1.5 of you who care. 8)

Thats rad!! We were practicing that exact same arm lock submission last nite in my BJJ Class. Really effective to get from a closed side guard too. Works a TREAT!!

I just watched a bit of that and other related videos. I think these blokes would actually kill eachother if the refs weren't there and they thought they could get away with it. Blokes stomping on cunts heads when they are down and not even responding. Disturbing, what the fuck is wrong with people.

There's nothing wrong with these guys.
They get in the ring, and they know what the deal is.
That's what the ref is there for - and each ref is a highly specialized dude.
There's never been anyone killed in a properly sanctioned MMA match - anywhere. (MMA is short for 'Mixed martial arts')
They (the athletes) have the option to tap out, and if they are getting pounded, and can't defend themself, the fight is instantly stopped.
Of course they would die if it wasn't stopped - these are the most lethal human beings on the face of the planet.
Again, that's why the ref is there.

It's a sport.
Some people like to pole vault.
Some like to ride horses.
These guys like to kick punch and grapple - and it's now one of the worlds highest watched pay per view sports.

These guys are absolutely amazing athletes. Think about it - they have to be competent in Greco Roman, Judo, boxing, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing - just as a bare minimum.
And now it's all come together as a hybrid sport, that makes for incredible viewing.
I don't see any other athletes this accomplished in so many different disciplines in any other sport, besides maybe decathletes - and they don't get hit in the face during competition.
I know a fair few of these dudes, and you can't be in a sport as complex as this without having a brain either. They all know why they are there. They all go in with a major gameplan - especially at the level of those two guys.
And on top of that, ALL are as tough as nails.

Just being a brawler isn't good enough - and the majority are highly intelligent. And that's why I personally love the sport.

Check out Joyce Gracie demonstrate this fact against a Kung-Fu Master.
Joyce is recognized as one of the most accomplished grapplers in history.
Check out how technichal he is.
Even so, he has now been well surpassed as a grappler.
This maybe gives you some idea how far the sport has evolved, and how well rounded the athletes competing now are. (This is a very old vid)
Joyce, and his family, revolutionised martial arts...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjK0g-cDJI4

So if it's not your thing - fair enough.
But understand it before you brand it.
It's not mindless thuggery.
Cheers. 8)

Totally understand some people not getting into MMA.
I can't get into horse racing, cricket or Rugby. So I hear ya. :D

Just as s side note though - they banned head stomping in the UFC a fair while ago. That is - kicking or stomping your oponent in the upper body or head while they are grounded.
They still allow it in Pride (The Japanese equivalent of the UFC) - but the Company that owns the UFC (Zuffa) just bought Pride.
Dana White, the President of the UFC is totally against the head stomping too. So I can probably see it getting ruled out in the next couple of years.

I'm not a fan of the 'stomp' myself.
But I guess in that game it's anything go's to get the job done.

While we are on the subject of the 'stomp' - watch these two in order.
Rampage (the monstrous black guy featured below) is fighting Chuck Lidell on May 26th at UFC 71.
Any fans have any predictions?
I think Chuck is going to rain fire on his ass. :D
