Sunday August 5th we return for the tenth in our series of anything-goes Off Beats, hosted at the exquisite Workshop in Melbourne.

This time, scattered around our calvacade of broken beats, downtempo, ambient, hip-hop, lightcore and IDM sounds, we welcome Unsoundbwoy to our crew before he departs the city for another voyage abroad. Joining him, we're proud to bring back Foundation Stepper, whose FFFebruary Off Beat set was one of the finest we've heard in a long line of fine sets.

The lineup:

- FOUNDATION STEPPER
- UNSOUNDBWOY
- LEPHRENIC
- SEA

You need not be Canadian to attend this one, but you must be alive and conscious for it to be legal.

Date: Sunday August 5th 2007
Time: 4pm-10pm (including a $1 BBQ from 5pm-7pm)
Place: Workshop - 413 Elizabeth Street (enter via A'Beckett) in Melbourne
Cost: Nothing, other than a place to store a wonderful memory in your life

We're two weeks away, which means I'm not drinking for two more weeks. Flyers are now out around the city and surrounding suburbs.

My set is looking good, it's going to have elements of excellent hip-hop and a nice little IDM segway, balanced with some orchestral, latin and ambient.

I have some Lalo Schifirin on the menu, as well as Canada's own Legion of Green Men, Lupe Fiasco, James Brown, Thievery Corporation, and a lot more.

I really want to check one of these out now, Sea. You sold me well. Sounds truly interesting. Can I bring my kids?

I just got back from helping clean up CRAM (thanks Eric for the info on that), and I landed an original copy of Village People with the classics Macho Man and YMCA on it. Inspired by you.

As for the kids, as we've learned, a moustache and fake cleavage will get you past any security.

The excitement is contagious man, hold me.

I've been taking a break from them the past couple of months for sake of change, but this afternoon a huge pile of new releases and promo from Foreign Beggars' label arrived. So part of my nice little hip-hop segment I'll be dropping will feature some of this brand new shit off the press in the UK.

News - I'll be on Kiss FM for an excellent glitch, minimal and IDM show hosted by Not Happy Jan, to play a little of my more off beat off beat stuff. Sunday afternoon, Kiss FM, 12-2pm.

We'll be giving away free tickets to Off Beat, which, as you know, is free and doesn't require tickets, but I will still print some up if anybody calls.

It's a really good idea. My nuts were on fire earlier. I put two and two together, and chilis came out the other end. Brilliant.

Actually Cam (along with the rest of my mates) got to see only the last five minutes of my set last month. Only because a certain DJ thought he was playing after me, not before.

Cam's playing the following off beat. It would be in her best interests to make sure she is not repulsed by off beat or our selection of music.

sweetcheeks - you are both sweet, and lovely, and beyond both.

we're cooking sausages at 5pm, we can splash a little curry on them and let the ladies go pop music on them.

Set times

Post by universal sea »

Set times for Sunday August 5th at Workshop:

4:00pm - Lephrenic
5:30pm - Unsoundbwoy
7:00pm - Sea
8:30pm - Foundation Stepper

A nice little mix up worthy of you being there at 3:30 to keep your excitement under wraps before we begin, and stay with us to 11pm or so, when the bonus set should wrap up (if you're lucky).

Enjoy putting those times in your mobile's calendar application, and catch you for further bumping soon.

I look forward to people coming and not taking me seriously, thank you for that.

I also suggest people come fully dressed in TOGA gear. Which begs the question, should we throw an Off Beat Toga party one day?

In unrelated news, 5pm to 7pm, dollar BBQ and salad. You can't beat that, unless you habitually steal food from people.

Wow the toga idea has taken off, but we'll chat about that in next month's thread.

It's a beautiful day outside, and even if it weren't I'd post that right now anyway. The excellent and most appropriate tenth Off Beat weekend is here.

I look forward to shaking your hand and rubbing you.

That would have made consecutive months that a star guest DJ had forgotten Off Beat, my goodness.

I suppose we are not worthy of memory, like that 89th pig in a line of pig at the abatoire.

quite the contrary.
those with random minds will play random tunes and thats what offbeat is good for.
