the woman behind the counter was apparently half way through processing his tickets and the system crashed.

Scalping is illegal, so just get your own back by dobbing in the people selling tickets on eBay. They'll get it in the end.

Rules are you have to sell tickets at "face value".

Wouldn't be hard to police scalping on the Juggernaught known as Ebay if they really cared.

think the big problem with online sales is that anyone can jump on their computer at 9am with the chance of securing the max tix.. then they can sell them on. if they dont score then no big deal for them.

the big day out tried to launch some kind of injunction against their tix being sold on ebay.. it went to court but they lost

speaking of... RATM HAVE JUST BEEN CONFIRMED FOR BDO

Ha! As if 4,000 tickets weren't going to sell out in under 15mins.

Although 2mins is surprising - you'd think it'd take 2mins to do one transaction. That's 667 transactions at an average of 6 tickets per person in 2 minutes. Wowsers.

They cut themselves way short. They could have sold out Rod Laver I reckon, or Myer Music Bowl at least.

Rod Laver 30,000 x $100 or Festival Hall 4000 x $100.

I'd take the $3,000,000 thanks.

At least those lucky 4000 are going to see them in an intimate venue! Dope!

We were trying to work that out Lynt.

All we could come up with was:

A) Rod Laver was already booked out (on a Wed night - doubt it)
B) RATM were being their anti-corporate selves and refused to do a stadium gig
C) West and Lees (promoters) didn't want to risk diminished sales to BDO by offering side-shows @ stadiums...

I'd go with option C - but who really knows...

Rage would take the money, and Rod Laver would have been first choice for option C.

But who knows! Ah well.

Sincerely doubt that mate.

They are the most 'real' band out there, they even hide what brand gear they use by rubbing off, removing logos when they could have recouped sponsorship dollars.

They apparently reformed due to the current politcal climate, President Bush being a prime target of inspiration. And the fact that Cornell stepped down as frontman may have something to do with it... Don't forget Audioslave were quite succesful - albeit nowhere near as good IMO.

my mate and i were talking about this yesterday. seems to be keeping in line with all the oldies reforming for a last hurrah (iron maiden, the police, the cure etc). slightly desperate imo...but who gives.

still get to see em!

Iron Maiden didn't reform I'm pretty sure. Touring - yes, old band - yes, lineup changes - possible. But I didn't think they had broken up before.

Yeah stoked. Seriously stoked. Faith in mankind has paid off.

I feel sorry for the missing out crew though. Here's hoping a second show gets announced and you guys score a guernsey.... fingers, toes and balls crossed.
