it shouldn't be; there's no deliberate policy to keep new people out, full stop. i think people with hotmail addresses tend to have problems, but aside from that, it should be okay. we'll get on to him and try to sort it. thanks.

completely and utterly untrue. the admin approval is used to stop the huge amount of spam bots registering bogus accounts.

i was running phpBB for a while and there is a heaps easier way to reduce the number of spamburgers that doesnt involve having to approve every member that signs up. pm/email me i if you are still having issues or whatever...

its not a mod you can download afaik. having a quick look at your registration page, you arent using this one i have in mind.

most bots know what the standard phpBB registration page looks like, and their scripts usually fly through these no problems.

what we did was add a non standard question to the registration page. bots can guess the answer to a non standard question, so if you add a question that has a yes/no answer then the bots will probably come thru half the time as they will either select yes or no.

we added a question like what is 6 + 2

bots cant do maths. after making this modification we had almost no new bot sign ups.

try it if you want and see how it goes. or dont. just thought id let you know what worked for us after trying so many mods that did sweet fuck all.

:)
