LTJ BUKEM
Just who is LTJ Bukem? Ground breaking DJ? Inspirational musician? Record label entrepreneur? When the man behind those wire rimmed glasses writes his job description just what does he put? Or maybe he just writes 'Renaissance man for a digital age'. In truth LTJ Bukem is all of the above.
As a teenager, Bukem regularly checked out the local soul clubs and legendary rare groove day parties, during this time he also ran jazz funk bands and played around on the turntables, however it was in 1988 that Bukem first realised that DJing could offer a full-time career.
In 1990, LTJ Bukem got his first big break - at 'Raindance' booked to play in front of 10,000 people.
Soon after, Bukem ventured into the studio and one of the most influential DnB Record labels of all time was born – Good looking Records.
From there came the timeless classics - Music, Horizons, Demon's Theme and Logical Progression to name just a few…
The start of the 21st century saw LTJ Bukem continuing on his extraordinary musical odyssey with his long awaited solo album 'Journey Inwards'; a diverse album of drum 'n' bass, soul, downbeat and house tracks that opened the eyes of those that had no faith and warmed the souls and inner belief of those that did.
On top of this he has continued the 'Progression Sessions' series of live mixes captured on CD, featuring lush performances recorded live in The USA, Tokyo and Germany.
LTJ Bukem will continue to spread the gospel of the Good Looking sound - setting the main stages of the world alight with his stunning DJ sets. Get ready for the soulful selection as Bukem graces our shores alongside MC Conrad for a night of deep rolling beats and basslines presented by Broken Beat Assault.

This music is my first love baby and I must confess
I can profess knowing that I won't get stress
Yes and with that love I've got the advantage
Because deep lies the heart's language
Speaking to the rhythm and it's speaking in beats
Speaking to the music with a lyric deep
Sound is sweet and never will decay
And if I feel like drifting other ways
I can do that if that's what I need
Flip the script and down pitch the speed
As we move on as we move through
Twisting mystic vibes just for you
Check the fatness and the freshness
Vibe is live and direct, express
This is my first love baby and I must confess
I can profess knowing that I won't get stress
Oh... yes!!!

it's all about the future, not the past. what was, was.Direktor wrote:Here's hoping a return to the earlier days of GLR returns in regards to beat programming and track selection...
personally, i find it refreshing to see bukem playing tunes from labels/artists other than glr again.

I totally agree. I loved his set last year.system wrote:it's all about the future, not the past. what was, was.Direktor wrote:Here's hoping a return to the earlier days of GLR returns in regards to beat programming and track selection...

Yay for the Prince!
I'm more than happy for Mr. Bukem to play music from whatever label he choses. In fact, I'd rather he did...system wrote:it's all about the future, not the past. what was, was.Direktor wrote:Here's hoping a return to the earlier days of GLR returns in regards to beat programming and track selection...

My point was that the most recent GLR/LGR releases were getting a tad on the boring side regarding drums for me... The rest of the production is fine, but gone are the cut-up and edited amen breaks - it would be nice to see a resurgence in those beats from the man. That would make for a nice future for me!
Of course, this is just from my point of view.
Bukem got me into DNB, he and Conrad will forever be held in high-esteem for me... Haven't missed one Bukem show in Melbourne since hearing my first Progression Sessions, and certainly don't plan to in the future.
Excited!

I must investigate...
System will confirm this or not but i thought GLR went broke and shut up shop - dunno how or why but i heard rumors that producers were not getting paid.Direktor wrote:Farrrk.... he sounds wicked....
When is GLR gonna get an online MP3 store up and running?
I need new GLR releases... there hasn't been anything for AGES has there?

My favourite show was at the Gatecrasher dnb tent - vibe nearly lifted the roof off the big top. Was well wicked!
That was the first time I saw Bukem & Conrad... I thought it was a bit ordinary - the man was clearly not impressed with the setup... if I recall correctly the monitors and decks were problematic from the get-go.

Wasnt paying much attention to all that - I had all my crew over from Adelaide, we were mightily messed up and having a ball. Just remember that and seeing a circus tent with about 5000 people crammed in singing and dancing along.Direktor wrote:Cereal?ctoafn_DMZ wrote:WTF - Please explain............................DBoy wrote:Seen them play multitude of venues, ................including the Mitsibishi factory in Port Melbourne

Who played for 10mins?Will wrote:As they played for a full 10 minutes.Direktor wrote:Aaah furry muff...
The next day was wikked - De La Soul followed by Roni Size & Dynamite. After De La played, everyone cleared out, leaving heaps of room for the Full Cycle lads and the dedicated crew - goodtimes!
Fuckin' Dl La cunting Soul.
Roni & Dynamite played for a bit - but I remember they were shut down in the end due to "noise restricitons" - at like 11pm or something...
I remember roni played some jazz ting that was off tap, and never got a release! Will wrote:As they played for a full 10 minutes.Direktor wrote:Aaah furry muff...

It felt like 10 min to me. I remember they were so late because De La Soul went so overtime. They wouldnt get off the bloody stage! GRRR.Direktor wrote: Who played for 10mins?

Just because I rock, doesn't mean I'm made of stone.
