Ow. Your bike okay?

Farken bits of metal in roads! I split my face open coming off tram tracks a couple of months ago. Now I have a scar that looks like a swastika next to my eye. Woo.

perhaps see if you can hire or borrow one ?
having said that, if the bike distance for the race is under 15k your average MTB will do the job (put some slick/road tires on it and max the PSI).

It's because Marcus is a legend. He competes in fixed MTB events, so will always be known among the cool kids and people will literally travel hours to go to him. There was even a sneaky reference to him in Cadel's Tour speech, so he's got connections. He is also a no bullshit, endlessly helpful bike shop person, with stupidly good prices and follow-up. <3 Marcus.

ah, finally noticed. welcome to the crew.

shimano do some cheap mtb spd shoes, but most bike shops should be on sale at the moment, so shop around.

like nhd said, get a kryptonite u/d lock stat.

My brother has recently informed me that just prior to heading off to South America he left my bike locked up on Brunswick St overnight - needless to say, it wasn't there the following day when he returned to fetch it.

It's a mid 90's model Giant ATX 980 or 970.

Dual suspension - the main portion of the frame is canary yellow, rear is a dark blue/purple. It's got old school rockshox 21R's on the front. Blue OURY grips and a blue lizard skin next to the rear derailer.

It's not worth nearly as much as what it used to but that ol' bike's been with me pretty much every where over the past ten years.

Give us a shout if you happen to pass it lying somewhere looking lonely.

i used to do that ride to get to work when i worked at the grand.

i used to ride down the train tracks till you get just after jewel station, then turn left and ride on the bike path (not on the rd) on the left hand side of royal parade.
stay on the path and go around past the cemetry and into swanston.
go down swanston and take left once u go over the bridge that goes over sth bank.
once u do that go along the bike trail that goes down along the yarra and u eventually get to church street.

that is by far the safest way to go, the only time u are on the road is on swanston, and where ever u go after church.
