Yo Ollie! Thats what I think and thats why I don't like consoles. You may as well build yourself a PC. Consoles = pov PCs.mecka wrote:^^^

Eventually consoles + pcs are gonna merge (at least thats what it seems like). Then nobody can complain.

consoles serve a different purpose man. sure you have your PC games that you can sit in front of your PC and play, by yourself, or with people on the internet.B0mBjAcK wrote:Yo Ollie! Consoles are great for a group game playing scenario (dont bring LANs into this they are not the same) where you have a group of mates around at yours and you can whip it out and play something rad and have a great time.
this is all apposed to watching the back of someones head sitting on a PC playing Half life or whatever.
seriously dude. consoles have their place. PC's have theirs.
Meh I never been a fan of the console gaming with the split screen and all, consoles are good for those beat 'em up games oh I love them! The split screen thing just shits me (half because I was crap at it and half because whats the point if you can see where your mate is hiding? just waltz over n fill em full of oles, and yes I know you can play it over the net with out the gay slpit screen but thats different coz ur mates arnt actualy there) dunno if its changed since tho coz the last console game I played was 180 on the N64 when I was house sitting.Ag3nT[]0raNg3 wrote:consoles serve a different purpose man. sure you have your PC games that you can sit in front of your PC and play, by yourself, or with people on the internet.B0mBjAcK wrote:Yo Ollie! Just never been a big fan of consoles, at least not for multi player gaming doubt I'll ever gt into them, it would take a damn good console to chane my mind.
Tho the new hardware for the next gen consoles is going to be fucking dope, specialy the PS3s Cell CPUs and DVDs that will use ble ray technology and not to mention the video card, the GPU is (apparently) more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards drrooolage! The only good thing about the new consoles is the hardware, hope we see this sort of thing in PCs soon
P.S. check the specs

Wow, just as I'm posting something about the secrecy surrounding the Nintendo Revolution, I find this:
E3 2005: Revolution Details Revealed
This one's a puzzle alright! Details direct from the conference.
The Revolution is indeed the name of Nintendo’s next console. However the images we’ve seen so far are only of a prototype. The final version will be even smaller than this. Since it’s a prototype, Nintendo have stated that they want YOUR input on what you think of the colour of the console. Feel free to add this to our comments section in case Iwata drops by.
Key Details:
- The console can lie horizontally or vertically in its stand.
- It will take 12cm optical discs, along with the GC discs, CDs and standard DVDs all through same drive. However a small internal attachment will be needed to play movies and DVDs.
- The console will have 512MB onboard flash but this can be extended with SD cards.
- Game creation will be the most developer friendly of all past consoles
- Capable of playing every Nintendo game ever created as it act as an emulator for all past systems!
- Confirmed that all Nintendo content from NES, SNES and N64 will be available for download on the console.
- All controllers will be wireless and very unique. However no details of these were revealed.
However this is where the puzzle starts;
No details of the core technology were revealed. Iwata did say; “When you turn on revolution and see the graphics you will say WOW!†but this will have “No direct bearing on game-play.â€
He then went on to explain how the traditional trifecta of the controller, console and TV, will be extended with Internet access in the Revolution. However how they interact will be different in Nintendo’s design, than they are in their competitors. This will make the Revolution a device appealing to non-gamers. “Right for everyoneâ€.
There will be Wi-fi games on key Nintendo characters ready for launch – including Smash Brothers however it will be the game experience that will separate revolution from it’s competitors. There will also be a new Miyamoto creation to debut with Revolution – something revolutionary itself but no details were given. Next gen Mario, Zelda, Metroid and an WiFi enable Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles title are all underway. No gameplay footage or tech demos were shown.
Images of the console can be found here.
Expect more details over the next 3 days.

actually that is exactly what GT 4 looks like. Thats just the GT4 engine with more cars and more pit crews. GT5 will have a new engine, full car damage physics, like you can flip the bastards and shit. realism is insane.
I mean "on" as in, developed by and for Playstation.Rob M wrote:agree to that.lynt wrote:If only Zelda was on Playstation
but i guess emulation is the only way to go in that case.
nintendo have a way with fuzzy anti-aliasing and wind chime theme songs.
bring on the sinisterness of Link and his bad ways of Hyrule!
I wish when Sony was developing the Super Nintendo [Famicom] CD system add-on they didn't branch off and make the PS1lynt wrote:I mean "on" as in, developed by and for Playstation.Rob M wrote:agree to that.lynt wrote:If only Zelda was on Playstation

I secretly hoped that the union would stay. I too love zelda way too much, wonder if nintendo will have enough sway to make me buy the revolution instead of the ps3. Cell technology is looking too good right now.

Its all about Myth TV with Emulators, that way you can have you PC, but in
a console situation!

My mate has a Myth TV PVR with XMame on it and a couple of other
Emus and it works a treat, can also hack whatever controller you want
into a PC. Dont get me wrong I love my Consoles, but this is a synergy of
the best of both worlds.

# The cool look: The new console boasts high-quality materials and a smart, compact design, approximately the size of three standard DVD cases stacked together. It will come with a silver stand that makes the system a welcome, artistic component of any multimedia setup, whether it's displayed vertically or horizontally.
# Backward compatibility: The new console plays all games from the current Nintendo GameCubeâ„¢ generation.
# The secret weapon: The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo64â„¢, the Super Nintendo Entertainment Systemâ„¢ (SNESâ„¢) and even the Nintendo Entertainment Systemâ„¢ (NESâ„¢).
# Easy expansion: A bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory.
# Two disc formats, one slot: Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCubeâ„¢ discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content.
# The specs: The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. A worldwide network of Nintendoâ„¢ players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment. Revolution's technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway," and a graphics chip set from ATI code-named "Hollywood," will deliver game experiences not previously possible.
# The stars: Introduction of a number of new franchise properties will add to the world's richest stable of stars, including Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong and Metroid.
# Wireless freedom: A number of Wi-Fi-enabled launch titles are in development that will employ Nintendo's newly announced wireless gaming service, Nintendoâ„¢ Wi-Fi Connection. A worldwide network of Nintendoâ„¢ players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment.
# Freedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game "masterpieces" as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea.
(flogged off cov-ops site. no idea where it came from)
