Si Ese.

Bolognese has potential to be a lot jucier than the taco mix though.....

I'll put them both to the test next Tuesday at our newly regular "Taco Tuesday" Session.

Case study to be presented

Taco Bill isn't that far removed from the Mexicali Rose that came highly recommended... IMO (and others we ate with)

It's not quite as nice or cheap (unless you go to Taco Bill's midweek 50% off) - but their Margheritas are HEAPS better.

FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL

To all those that go cheese, meat lettuce etc etc

HERE is the ONLY WAY:

Meat - with a LITTLE cheese
Lettuce
Tomato
cheese
hot sauce

OK now end it or do we all need a kick in the slats?

We are off to Coyote Cafe tomorrow night for a rather large taco/Tom's Nachos (nachos made with frijole and shredded beef) session...all welcome!

FANTASTIC!

Philly cream cheese is a saviour when it comes to mince based sauces.

High recommendation to put slivers through your lasagne next time you make it.....

I dared.

It's a slight cut above Taco Bill (Taco Bill East Malvern that is).

But to be honest, Taco Bill (EM) beats 'em in the frijoles department.

Enchiladas at Mexicali Rose are pretty ordinary.

Tacos and burritos are better at Mexicali Rose, but seriously - they're not mind blowingly better.

you know what i find funny?

mexican food is some of the cheapest in the world to make.

and yet, all the restaraunts and even BBNT are FUCKING expensive.

a REAL, authentic mexican burrito from chaitos' in san mateo, the low rent ghetto out of san fran where i grew up, weighs around two kilos or more, is a two hander and then some, and costs around five bucks. across the US, they get even cheaper the lower you go.

i have a really hard time paying $20 for a good burrito here. and even then, most of them are shit.

oh, if you want a really funny aussiexican experience, go to the mexican place right near fairfield train station.
i turned up there for a date a while ago, both of us dressed up and bottle of vino in hand,
and then had the most frankston-mother-of-six interpretation of mexican food ever.
was MAJOR date fail.
no wonder we broke up

Liz - fantastic news.

I'm having a taco off with a couple of American's this week.

Prize on the table is a couple of paid Scuba dives which I'm quietly excited about.

Now - Tuesday night is at the "Yanks" place and Thursday night is at my place.

this is an advantage already as I'll be able to sample and test what they bring out.....They're already talking about some special sauce from the US that they use which I'm a bit worried about.

I'm going to have to "bring it" to win this contest.

all tips, advice, special ingredients, variations will be considered for this feat.....

I'm going to print this whole thread for starters.....

we should publish this actually "The MB.com Taco Almanac"

should try making your own tortillas for the extra effort points.

2 cups corn masa mix
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 and a bit cups water

1. mix
2. roll out very flat
3. cook in a pan until it bubbles a bit then flip over to cook the other side.

will win comp for real.

id say around 8 or so. just pinch off golf ball size bits and roll out. very sticky tho so would need to use some baking paper or somthing other than just more corn to roll out.

unless you have a tortilla press!

i thought taquitos were different..
they are smaller? and deep fried..??
like they get the tortilla, wrap whatever thing inside it in the same way as a burrito
but making sure the ends are sealed and then deep fry

i tried making them once.. but i cant wrap things up very well it seems..
SO MUCH OIL!!!
and it was manky oil that had been in the deep fryer for quite some time..
so, it was not the best tasting thing, but i can appreciate HOW they much be good ;D

well....

what an experience.

Tapatio Hot Sauce....

Amazing.

Also had a different method of taco last night - very impressive.

Mince exchanged for chicken

everything cooked in together - corn, tomato, corriander, seasoning, tapatio sauce, cheese

then dumped on to a softy or a hard with a couple of slices of avocado and BANG!

amazing.

twas another good Taco Tuesday
