i think the difference is, if you know what is going on, u can appriecate the skill on the ball, and know how hard it is to do things that look so easy to others(but actually is hard as fuck) and that keeps ur attention compared to see 30 (not really hard to score) goals...its like turntablism i guess, some of it looks easy, but try doing the most basic shit and u tend to suck

Same can be said with most sports...
