This is the forum for all things Melbourne beats. Post your gigs and other Melbourne music related information here. Keep it about the music and music only, please keep on topic.
i loved doing the shuffle, and personally i reckon it started because of the music, and learning how to dance to it. You notice styles of dance work with different styles of music, and the shuffle just came naturally. simplistic explanation but you get the drift.
i have no issue that it got a name, cos Melbourne started it and it caught on around the world. they even had a shuffle comp at Hard Kandy back years and years ago (got told about from one of the promoters at the time, so i think it went ahead) where they had the winners (think it was 7 of them) go to clubs around the world and dance on stage or whatever. The comp started after some international DJs or whatever saw the Melbourne kiddies doing the shuffle and were blown away by it.
man watching those clips just makes me miss those days, but i wouldn't try doing it again, the memory is sweet enough

I'm either looking at the DJ/act, my mates/gf or whatever hallucination happens to be in front of me at the time
funny you mentioned that, cos all this has bought back memories. i remember doin the shuffle at earthcore at one of the stages, i was there for like an hour or two on my own dancin away. Anyways, i sat down for a bit and these two chicks came up to me to tell me they had sat and watched me for ages cos they were off chops and enjoyed watching me dance with the lazers blazin passed me.
i was fricken embarrassed but also off chops, so hugs all round and off to another stage lol
If you can leave out the past of Shuffling, it ends up just being another style of dance like Latin or Ballet except that it's unofficial, you never know we may one day have Shuffle classes. People do it as a hobby of dance, not just for the music like most club frequenters. It's a genre of dance that people can apply to when they go out as if you were going to a Jazz club to dance Jazz styles.
I like any kind of dance and most kinds of music so I say big ups, anything to make a night a little more interesting.
The rubber plant was surprised. If the rubber plant could have spoken, it wouldn't have said anything. That's how surprised the rubber plant was.
