Help *sob* please.. computer problem

Post by Ani »

For the love of God, someone help me. This is shitting me to tears.

I think when I loaded on Messenger Plus, a bunch of other crap came with it. Everytime I open Explorer this stupid blue tool bar pops up at the bottom which i have to close. And every now and then my homepage is automatically changed to some weird site, and icons come up on my desktop. I used to be able to delete them, but now they won't go. I can't even right click on them. I went into 'Add/Remove Programs' and thought I removed the program for it, and then I restarted my computer. But they are still there. Please... tell me how to get rid of it? I can't take it anymore

yep Spybot + Lavasoft Adaware - one will pick up some that the other won't and vice versa, so it's good to have both and run one after the other.

i ran adaware. It got rid of 60 objects, but not the stuff i was hoping for. Still have the stupid icons on the desktop.
I downloaded spybot, but then it said that it was missing critical files it needed to run.

I'm for ever stuck with links to bingo and casino on my desktop aren't i?

Two words - Mozilla Firefox. Its cool cause it doesn't allow any pop ups and blocks most ads from webpages. Its great and a free download. Say goodbye to IE and download FireFox. Best thing I ever did (on a PC that is).

But it won't fix the damage already done though will it? I'll download it though to prevent future issues. Thanks for the tip :D

Sounds like your IE has been hijacked, no shit I had it happen to me once but the good news is it can be fixed without reformating (which is the best way to rid yourelf of that crap) your nerd box.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial42.html

And if you CBF reading all that (and I couldn't!) then try:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/ - This is the most useful site and the peeps there will be able to help you remove it, they helped me and I haven't had the problem since (mostly because I use Opera now) for ever.

If you have to keep using IE then use Spy Bot - Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html, (Yeah i know it sounds lame but it works which is the main thing) and SpywareBlaster - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html.

Good luck! :)
