Tried Squire's "Hop Thief" yesterday - very nice beer, in fact, quite possibly my favourite of the Squire's at present.

Yeah, tried that at The Local on Saturday. Not bad at all.menace wrote:had a white rabbit yesterday on tap .... better than creatures imo
But I wouldn't go as far as saying better than LC's... well, not for me anyway.
Which LC brew are you referring to? All of them?
In order for me:
Bright Ale
Pale Ale
Rogers
Pilsner
Re: BEER! mmmmm....
I think I've only ever tried the purpley/blue one. And yeah, not a fan. Not a fan of Duvel either... we've chatted about this before. Bubbles are too fine and champagne like, the taste of alcohol is too evident and tart. Not for me, although many beer enthusiasts swear by them.FoundationStepper wrote:celebrated the 10th year of duvel day yesterday - phone call to my mate in belgium to have a drink together. love the tradition. had to drink chimay though as couldn't find duvel last minute.

Re: BEER! mmmmm....
Leffe should be drunk in a small glass really innit, and drunk more slowly.
Lovely beer, but you can have too much of it quite easily.

Re: BEER! mmmmm....
i visited the local again last night.
I think I am in love.
Hit up the tasting paddle - what a concept!
Should have taken notes I think, I ordered a 9, 12, 13, 14 & 15
memorable -
James Squire Pale Ale. I really like this beer.
Celtic Red something - very fruity and light.
Also another Red something - it was an ale I think from memory.
also - what is a beer that starts with F?

Re: BEER! mmmmm....
Don't think Squire make a Pale Ale do they?
Would have most likely been a Golden or Amber Ale mate.
Was the beer starting with 'F' the Franziskaner Heffe Weisen? Similar to a Hoegaarden (but closer to a Shofferhoffer).
Re: Leffe. I like the brune they make... although I wouldn't classify it as a session beer.

Re: BEER! mmmmm....
Golden!
That was it - my bad.
The 'F' Beer was a type of beer, like an ale or a lager. it was fruity & bubbly I think, almost champagne like but it was beer.
short word, maybe 5 letters.
Can I buy a vowel?

Yeah, it's a nice refreshing, low-alcohol summer drop.
Dropped into Little Creatures brewery the other week in Freo... big setup, as to be expected I guess. Probably around 8 times the size of Mountain Goat.
Beers of the moment for me:
*Mountain Goat Surefoot Stout (the best stout I've tried, great drink when it can be found)
*Mountain Goat Hightail Ale (such a drop, caramel-roasted notes, so good for the cooler months)
*Roger's (perfect for a day watching the footy in front of the telly - borderline mid-strength, great for an arvo)

Re: BEER! mmmmm....
Tried the Mclaren Vale Ale. It's a Pale ale and was about $4.50 a bottle. Bland taste, nothing really exciting about it whatsoever. Little after taste.
My advice. Keep the $4.50, scab 50c off someone and buy a longneck of Coopers.
Here's the douchey logo to stay clear of.
