SP:MC a great MC, and I think he made Lowqui pull out one of his best nights for a long time..

when the badman Trooper was in control, I must say I have never heard such revolting distortion from a PA, ever... wasnt due to the DJ mix, but ultimately an engineering failure.

the sound @ the start of Friction's set would have been enough to make any person cringe, let alone 2 of the worlds most reputable DNB artists.... SP was ferkkn unbelievably good . we're lucky to be graced with such lyrical skill such as Lowqui and SP in the one show. Shame we cant show them the same respect by spending a little time getting the engineering spot on. Nobody should have to run around cleaning up someone elses mess during a gig.

why on earth are we paying top dollar entry prices again?

because acts aren't cheap to bring over.

friction and sp were rockin, as was break and lowq's when we had to go dammit.

the sound was pretty crap but it a new system that will surely be tuned ready for new years

it was good to catch everyone briefly...see ya again in a few weeks

straws are my friend when it comes past 1 when coordination ceases to work ahaha.

mate it is not an engineering failure

johnny is easily the most skilled live sound drum & bass engineer we have in melbourne. it is a brand new system which has been installed this week as we know its not up to scratch yet.. its in its very early stages & has alot more power/potential than the system which was there b4,
unfortunately for us the timing was shit but we had no control over that, there is obviously a lot of work to do & we expect it to be up to scratch b4 our next event at roxannes

please be aware of the variables that may exist b4 u make accusations of not showing respect to our international travellers.

thanks to everyone involved, pity it was so wet saturday altho those who were there witnessed some great tunes & lyrics from our guest's

I am not doubting the skills of Johnny Hooves in the slightest mate - in fact I'm more supportive of him in this situation than anything. I know his capabilities when it comes to tuning a rig whether it be for DJs or live applications, and that is why I found it enormously hard to believe that the rig was tuned by Hooves from what I heard through Troopers set, and the start of Friction. I saw some work being done during the his set that did improve clarity but definitely not overall gain & loudness.

I've attended pretty much every single BBA gig at Roxanne's in the last 3 years, and the sound has always been outstanding.. the last two gigs, has been seriously shocking... and for someone who ALWAYS pays full price in support of the scene... its a major disappointment after looking forward to seeing these artists for so long. I really appreciate the work and time that goes into throwing these gigs, but if the end product isn't right, it deters me from wanting to pay good money to come back.

Fair enough if you just got a new rig installed @ Roxanne, but that is something the punter should not have to deal with or notice when they are out, especially at such a gig where the majority of punters are either DJs/MCs or promoters, and the sound is such an important factor in making the event successful. It does not take longer than a day to get a rig sounding half decent, I've seen Hooves do it with the Nexo rig @ Libs, and that thing was a fuxn beast.

I retract my comments about not showing respect to the internattys, and also apologise if anyone took it personally, as I know that is not the case and was probably written when I was a little peeved.

definitely lacked a LOT in certain areas (especially with dubstep, listening to goat stare on the full rig at the back, the whole ~120Hz was missing which made it sound seriously weird indeed), so i think getting a new one is a decent idea.

shame to hear that the sound was shabby on sat, but out of all the dnb crews in melbourne, i have to say (with no disrespect to anyone else) that bba consistently have the highest production values, and i know they care deeply about sound in particular. they come correct, or do their level best, each & every, and i'm sure they'll get it sorted quicktime.

what a wicked night of beats! world exclusive friction and break b2b set! and the lowqui and SP rinsing it till the early hours!
we thought it sounded good for the most part of the night, hooves had a bit of a nap at some point. big ups jonny!
