cooked up an epic moroccan feast last night.
nom and half.
- carrot and orange salad will be getting a good run, so crisp and fresh and easy. carrots, fresh orange juice, orange blossom water and a little cinnamon. YUMMO!
- smashed the turkish delight doughnuts too. not bayd.
- winner of the night was the chicken and almond bastilla though me thinks. spring rollish kinda deal. deeeeelish.

was lovely spending an afternoon in the kitchen. been ages since i had a proper cook off. :D

Heya - we had weekend in the Rat too! 'Twas good times - farmers market, foto biennale then camping in lerderderg on way home. Madness.

The lady got the bread secrets from Gramps. Uses a "No-Knead" base method, which still definitely required kneading, but must be easier than normal. My role is in the eating.

9 grain wholemeal goodness. Next up is olive bread.

Only been to Gingerboy once ages ago and didn't blow me away (all I remember was fantastic cocktails). Must revisit.

Hey all

Does anyone know of any good cook books that have recipes from scratch? In particular Indian otherwise Moroccan or Thai maybe. What I mean by scratch is making the pastes etc from grounding up the base spices etc before even making the actual meal. Hope that makes sense. Cheers

No, I mean making the paste from scratch out of spices with Mortar and Pestle. Lots of recipes just call to add Vindaloo paste or Tom Yum Paste to the ingredients.

It is isn't it. I actually bought some herbs off Herbies website and made a curry 'gravy' last night for making up different curries like madras. Got about 2L in the fridge, can't wait to try making a real curry like you get in a restaurant.

Same'o cooked everything for 1hr then blended then reduced a further 30-40mins.

Witty my house still smells of all the spice 3 days later! I found a forum that is all about trying to clone restaurant curries (Mostly poms) - cr0.co.uk

lolz i used to eat breakky at l'espresso every sunday when i lived in the rat. awesome.

gingerboy was a tad fail i thought. tasty food, a little too upity and hip for me tho. plus they tell you to order all this food to share but they cant fit it all onto the table. and i dont like the "two sittings" restaurants either. grumble grumble.

went to anada the other night and had banquet. pretty good. beef cheeks ftw.
