I may or may not have tried the MG stout. I had one at a little bar in Belgrave a while ago, but can't remember the brand. Was yum.
I don't drink stouts so much over here. I was truly spoilt in Ireland. OMG. The guiness at the brewery in Dublin was out of this world good.

Pretty good?

Understatement of the year there... well, IMO.

Nothing else in town comes remotely close, unless you know some place I don't.

Did you go on a Friday or Saturday night by any chance?

Their prices (for most local brews) are cheaper than a pot of Steller at my local.

Great article until they mentioned Scott Thomas.

@ Direkt - went on a Sunday arvo and as it was a birthday forced to go upstairs (ugh). I usually rock the leather seats downstairs on a saturday arvo. I would assume it would be kick ass midweek when its a little quieter and you can actually squeeze in more than 3 words to the bar staff.

I've been there plenty of times. Love it! Apart from the empty wallet half way thru the night. Tried some amazing beers there and found out alot of new melb/vic breweries to go visit. It's great for the smaller places to get their name out there.

Nothing flash IMO. Tried the lager (I think) at Mrs. Parmas a while back... didn't order another...

@Amick: yeah, mid week is great... early Sat or Sun arvo usually is a winner too, I guess it's getting it's name out there now and is more packed than it used to be. We've been going there since before the opened, when it was just 'The Local' - the owner drew his inspiration from working in a boutique beer bar in San Fran (I think) - and most of the staff are cool, helpful and knowledgeable. Their beer appreciation nights are fun.

@hoffman: it's a little pricey... but I really don't think it's that steep when you consider the price you pay for shit alcohol in most places. I was paying $6 for a plastic pot of local Heinekin at The Palace (ne Metro) the other week. $6 a plastic pot for a mid-strength at the footy. $6 for locally brewed Steller at my local (Racecourse Hotel), $9 for a Jameson and Dry @ Brown Alley, etc etc.
Fuck that - I'd rather pay $6 for a kick-ass local boutique brew that I haven't tried before, that is served at the proper temperature, in an appropriate glass and in a nice atmoshphere.

roger that you guys...thanks....

Re the marketing - I like the fox head on the bottle, the guy who drew it is an illustrator for childrens books,
but the bright red and blue makes me think of alcopos and smirnoff! its too racy or summat.....
looks like a beer you drink in your ferrarri on lots of coke with a 'mother'+ amyl chaser?

Koonida branding is way classier and reflective of the beer that it is imho. ;)

All orders are delivered by Australia Post. Delivery usually takes 5-7 working days from when the beer is sent, although will take longer if we need to order stock in for you. We will phone you ASAP after receiving your order (within 1-3 days) to confirm stock availability, delivery details and prices, and to get payment details from you.
They also have a quote calculator that says about $20 shipping to Melbourne. The first one says long delays but the second site I sent let me go right thru checkout with no problems, unless I am missing something...?

$20 delivery is steep, i'd prefer to have an outlet in Melbourne where I can pick up the slab myself and have it readily available. Hence I said pick up...

Reschs - hahahaha, Old man's beer Amick.

;-)

there will be plenty flowing on the 10th of Jan.

Ha!

I'm hitting up a Leather Jacket Lager this week.

Very Nice Indeed! Polished a couple off after having a disgusting Cascade Light (I was the driver) that tasted like Cat's piss after I'd had a beautiful Golden Ale to start proceedings.
