huge where were you staying? i was there in 07 and really want to go back but didn't stay in chaweng (about 5k out) ... it was pretty cool just sitting around the pool and there weren't too many obnoxious AU's or euro's around. Has it gotten worse? I hope not as I love Samui!

we were staying just out of Lamai at a rediculous resort. failed to realise tho until we were at the airport that it was fucking school holidays! far too many screaming kids and their parents all over the place. gah!

was chatting to an aussie guy who has been living in lamai for the last 1.5 years. he reckons its very quiet at the moment! i wouldnt like to see it busy tbh! we didnt get into chaweng, prolly should have just for a look.

can change the date for $150 extra.
dont know anyone who wants to go to japan with me later in the year, so its looking like ill have to forfeit the $750 ticket if nobody buys it.

moral of the story is, dont buy tickets to go places with people who arent good friends that you can trust not to treat you badly!

like buying a ticket with someone your dating who turns out to be a complete asshole?
or like deciding not to go to japan (a very polite/reserved people) alone, in winter, for a possible cost of $5-6k
rather than my usual tropical SE Asain trip in winter here for half that budget?
hrmmmm. it was a hard choice to make, but there's my list of pros and cons.

you wont need to plan much, but its a good idea to read up on the east and west sides where there are different islands, so you know which way you want to head when you get there. if your flying into bangers, spend a couple days then head down south on the train to the islands imo, bangers is crazy big city and loads of fun but also loads of sweating sunburnt tourists out to get young thai pussy, which is also phuket really.

islands, any of the smaller ones FTMFW!!!!
cheap beer, cheap great vegie food, snorkel or dive by day and scrabble on the edge of the beach by night. :)

So I've booked a holiday to Europe, leaving December 2nd and will be away minimum 2 months. Heading straight to London where my brother is a publican. Also got tickets to Brussels and back via Frankfurt.
Hoping to check out some gigs, look at amazing buildings and maybe have a quiet drink now and then.
Can't wait...

Or if you want to base yourself in Christchurch do daytrips to places like Arthur's Pass, Hamner Springs, Diamond Harbour and maybe Kaikoura for some fresh crayfish off the side of the road.

NYE near Cartagena in Colombia at a 2 day DNB rave on a random remote beach with amazing palm trees and hammocks and acid... seriously the experience of a lifetime... to get home, it took 5-6 hours and we road for half of that on the back of a motor bike through some of the most amazing landscape while still tripping balls... 2 drops lasts more than 15 hours lol
