I am not sure how I feel about this, it almost seems like a knee jerk reaction from the labour party to try gain popularity before the election.

I also think that no matter who the prime minister is at the moment nothing could really be done as the senate is controlled more so by the Liberal party and senator Fielding. Rudd needed to bite the bullet and call a double dissolution when the ETS was canned.

thats all talk. she could either say yes or no. a deputy saying yes they want to lead publicly would be seen as disloyalty to the existing PM and their career would be over.

any deputy who is asked by the media wether they want to lead must always say no, regardless of what they actually think.

id be suprised too. i think the will stick to their guns, theres no way that swan can back away from it now. plus gilliard has room to negotiate now being the fresh face, she can alter and tweak the original stance to get an outcome without losing face, no way rudd could have done that, wouldve looked weak and like miners defeated him.

I hope they keep the tax tbh, if the value of a commodity goes up just simply because of a market yet the miners costs aren't going up why not tax them. They are getting the money out of Australia, they should be putting it back in tbh.
