MAMMOTH - OPIUO, SPOONBILL, EDITOR - LAUNCH PARTY - JULY 31
not my party, just passing on some info...
Omelette is ecstatic to present a truly mammoth night of futuristic fat wonk & wobble.
On Saturday 31st July Melbourne’s Hifi Bar will play host to the quadruple launch event for;
Opiuo’s Debut album,
Spoonbill’s new EP,
Editor’s new EP,
....and the debut Niceface show, all joining forces to create one massive sonic spectacle that will shake the town’s foundations
Opiuo‘s highly acclaimed tunes have been devastating dance-floors across the globe, and this event sees the launch of his anticipated debut album Slurp and Giggle. Available through Addictech Records, the album features a chunked up selection of the fattest break-hop glitch-funk around, and will be performed live on the night with a tasty selection of guest musicians.
Australia’s electronic maestro Spoonbill is set to release Airborne. This hotly awaited EP builds on the wonkadelic signature ‘spoon-bending‘ sound whilst also targeting dance-floors with its funk fuelled glitch-groove to get you off the ground. The live show will feature special guests, musos and more!
Melbourne duo Editor are launching their second release Inter-terrestrial. Fusing dubstep inspired bass with a strong twist of glitch and broken beat flavours, The Editor sound is pushing the envelope of modern down-tempo dance music. The live show will feature several guest artists.
Also featuring on the night is the debut performance by hyped up glamour-gore outfit Niceface who will thrash pants with their own brand of outrageous aural assault! Plus live support act Sun:monx , Dj Pedro, VJ’s and performers, the night is sure to keep your eyes and ears most satisfied.
This event promises to rock the block all night with solid stomping funked up sounds, visuals and theatrical performances... get ready for the stampede!

Drove past on my way in and the queue was about 20m long.. which meant inside would have been jammed and the walls would have nbeen sweating.
Very sad time!
About half an hour later.. it was about 10 meters long!
I blame JJJ for that!!! Stupid lunchtime set day of gig.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Re: MAMMOTH - OPIUO, SPOONBILL, EDITOR - LAUNCH PARTY - JULY
it was rubbish. music was extremely ordinary, made worse by talentless circus performers yodeling over the top of it. live drums for dance music seems like a good idea, but it needs some serious practice and a lot of technical know-how to get it working. Opiuo's set was let down by this sort of attempted complexity.
just pump out the beats - fuck the gimmicks
