On tap you say?

My missus is a big fan of the bottled variety. Can't say I've ever seen it on tap, unfortunately.

Coopers Extra Stout yesterday with the footy... perfect.

Now if only I could find some bloody Mountain Goat Surefoot Stout, the best stout in the land... my locals have not seen it yet this year, even though it has been released. Time to get on the hunt - maybe hit Goat HQ up.

Just spent 10 days in China and I must say that Chinese beer takes the cake as the weakest, wateriest beer in the world.

Although having said that what with the muggy weather and pretty oily food I was gagging for it come 5 oclock every day of the trip

Had a few different beers in Vietnam but they were NEVER cold enough. Was so hard to drink warmish beer in such hot weather. On the rare occasions that we found a proper cold one, many were smashed.

Had that problem in China aswell, fridges are all set to warm and are old and all the seals on the doors looked like chewed up tire tubes, our hostel had cold beer though so that was good.

I bought about 10 different kinds of beer off the shelf on my first day in china and figured I would just fill up the sink with ice and bang on have a nice little beer tasting.

You cant buy ice in chengdu- FACT :(

And Fents, I reckon there are some good micro breweries here but the big companies standard beers are pretty simple in taste really ( i think I have mentioned that elsewhere in this thread). If you can in Aus get yona yona ale which is a lovely fragrant ale from Karuizawa which is north of Tokyo in Nagano

Funnily enough Aroes put me onto Baird when he was here earlier this year. They have a little bar not too far from me which is the best place to get a draft beer in Tokyo in my opinion, I think they have like 15 beers on tap.

Also just checked Popeyes, never been there but it's not too far on the train, might have to make the journey sooner rather than later thanks for the tip champ :kooislayer.:

Finally tracked down Mountain Goat Surefoot Stout last night.

Far out! $15 for a 650ml longneck.

I know it's a limited release, but that's a huge increase on last year's 6-pack prices.

Last year it was the best stout I had ever tasted (not that I've tried tonnes)... this one better be even better.

crickey that spendy. bottleshop?

have got a black IPA on tap at home. Brand new beer style from the US. Its black but when you have a sip it tastes just like a normal pale ale, no roast, no chochloate (well very minimal) just a shitload of big american hops. It really fucks with your brain cause you think its gonna taste like a stout etc.

^ interesting. What makes it black if there isn't any roasted malts? Food colouring, squid ink? ;) Hahaha

Carwyn Cellars homeboy. From what Macca at work tells me, they're $10 @ Slow Beer.

I got ripped off I think.

3% black barley and 1% chochloate malt (so 4% of the total grain bill), gives the beer the black apperance without the roastiness flavour. some people are using sinnemar (not sure if thats how you spell it) but i think thats cheating.

Had the fortune of meeting a dude with three live kegs in the back of his van outside my house the other day. I forget the name of the beer he brews with his dad but I think his company was called the Good Brew Company.

Total legend, gave us heaps of beer and cider and was well entertaining.

I think someone mentioned a dude on a bike with beer -> same guy I think.

Also tried Pepperjack.

Much prefered the Pepperjack as a drinking beer. The Hawthorn would be good with a meal.

Heres a few beers I've had lately which I've really liked:

Coldstream Naked Ale (one of my fav beers)
Holgate Temptress Porter (with Chocolate and Vanilla)
Mildura Brewery Murray Honey Wheat (I like a beer where you can really taste the honey)
Macs Black (NZ)
White Rabbit (Dark Ale and White)
Holgate ESB
Grandridge Brewery (sooo many fantastic beers, stop of at their brewery sometime)

Also one of my own which is a cherry, chocolate dark ale. Definitely one of the best beers I have brewed. I have an Orange Blossom Honey and Grapefruit Wheat Beer which should be ready to drink in about 3 weeks time. I also have a Bitter Brown English Ale which should be ready in about 4 weeks.

I'm thinking my next brew might have some maple syrup it. Possibly something dark or a pale ale. I've found an online store where I can get B grade maple syrup for a reasonable price.

ive been caining pretty much any pale ale i can get my hands on lately. hawthorn pale and hargreaves hill pale still sit up the top of the list tho.

not tried the coldstream nake ale yet. i reckon the best of the mildura bunch is the storm. my local bottle-o was selling sixers of it for $13! bargain.

not a fan of the ESB either. had it quite a few times and it hasnt won me over yet.

grandridge has my favourite beer, gippsland gold. epic win.

Might have to give the Mildura Storm a try if I can find it. Grandridge Gippsland Gold is an awesome beer. Haven't seen the Grandridge beers at any bottleshops though. Mrs Parmas has Grandridge beers on tap

Next time you'rter passing through Bright, stop off at Bright Brewery. They have some amazing beers. Bright is where I discovered porter.
