A Gentleman's Selection •• 1.5hrs of Intelligent Jungle

Back in the day when ragga and jump-up jungle was tearing out the dance floors there was smoother alternative that for better or worse got coined Intelligent. I always had a bit of issue with the name as I didn't think the other jungle was so stupid. But, no matter what it was called, it was pure musical ecstasy.

Producers like DJ Pulse, Omni Trio and T-Power were making jaws gurn from the first bar of their track with this more melodic and lyrical take on the jungle sound. The other thing that made it exciting was that sampling was still rampant, so you got some great edits of classic reggae, soul and R&B dropped in amongst the hectic amen chop ups.

I could bang on for hours about this stuff, because I love it that much. But the music says more than ever really could so give it a listen and tell me I am wrong when I say Intelligent jungle is one of D&B best genres ever.

So instead I'll tell you that I have new mix up of stuff from the producer section of DOA (The Grid). It is all 94-95 jungle stuff but produced fresh this year. If you like this mix you might like taht one too.

PS: any idea why when I attempt to D/L links like this (i.e. the linked MP3), my download begins and then after a minute of DL'ing the bitrate continues to drop... and drop... until it pretty much just stops? I've tried on two different browsers (Firefox and Safari).

they create multiple segments and download them at the same time. be interesting to see if it speeds it up or if they all slow down
