 classic. The thing i heard on JJJ said 3 part, but then they seemed to suggest at the end last night that it finishes next week. Id like to actually own it, so hopefully abc shop will sell the dvd. I reckon you could watch it over and over and learn something more each time.

Studying something like that would be awesome. not sure how much employment you could get from it, but i reckon when im older and bored, i might do it.

Yeah but every major show starts again in the next few weeks.

In no particular order, restarting or commencing in Sept:

30 Rock
Fringe
Chuck
Sons of Anarchy
How I Met Your Mother
South Park
Stargate Universe
Dexter
Nikita
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
The Event
Undercovers
No Ordinary Family
The Walking Dead

And that's just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head. I do not have enough hard drive space.

none of this 6hour crap. i can't even get enough sleep from that!!!

i guess that is why they do it, so people go over the times from because they are asleep or something.

On what basis do you disaree Aroes?

On him being smug?

I agree that he came across as a spoilt kid who showed little respect for the people who supported and raised him; however the relevant issue is not his smugness or his level of respect it is drug addiction.

He was never caught with drugs and he has never tested positive yet he chose to share the experience with the public in the hope of education for others.

I think it's quite Gutsy.

if it brings a discussion up within a family or support circle about the dangers of drug use, when it may have never been discussed, how can it be a negative?

Whether or not I think he's smug isn't the issue

Quick said it was "perfect for educating a real drug addict's story"......this is the statement I disagree with

I think his story is far from representative of most drug addicts. How many drug addicts have the kind of money and support he had? Practically the whole football fraternity and fanbase would willingly lick his arse

You say that he was never caught with drugs and that it was his choice to share the experience. This I also disagree with. He came unstuck. Admittedly this was probably largely due to the media actively trying to catch him out, but the point is he was doing the wrong thing and it became public knowledge. The doco didn't ask any tough questions. It was done on his terms. To say that he bared all for the sake of public education is in my opinion naive. There are still many grey areas, and he made a shitload of cash in the process

I don't like him, I think the doco was a blatant ratings mop up, and I don't believe that a single skeric of it is in any way helpful in the realm of drug awareness and education

sorry, but how is bens story is not representative of most drug addicts? drug addicts come in every shape and form, this story shows that, and it IS real and truthful... that is the perfect way to educate on drug addiction, not some scare tactics the media usually use... use the truth, and if the truth is a wealthy sports star saying he enjoyed a lot of his times on drugs but still fell from grace, then so be it... Bill Hicks would be proud of this story thats for sure.

He didn't bare all for the sake of the public, but it has helped by educating the truth behind all the media coverage over the last few years. And just because he makes money from this, doesn't mean its all bullshit!

and the fact that this was on his terms and not through doco presenter questions is fucking brilliant... the media has a very good nac of getting a story told their way if they ask the questions... if it is purely the subject telling it how it was, its far more real...

just sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder about football and footballers in general... if he was a musician would u see this differently?

I most definitely do not have a chip on my shoulder about footballers, and no, in my eyes a musician is no different to a footballer or anyone else who is under intense public scrutiny
quick wrote: by strongly disagreeing, you would prefer a drug addicts story to be not real? because that is what my point was, it was real, he is real, the story is real... perfect.
I guess we may as well agree to disagree on this point......having had first hand experience with addiction, I feel that the way Cousins' story was conveyed lacked sincerity and was full of holes.....in my opinion, it just wasn't, as you put it, "real"

Hope you don't think I was just on a pointless rant, it's actually an issue that I'm passionate about and have a vested interest in

I think you both have a point.

The Cousins doco showed a different side of addiction to what a lot of people think - especially people who have never taken drugs or known people or do.

It showed that people, be they sports people, professionals, your neighbour can become addicted to "recreational" drugs. And while this is a very different experience from your heroin addict who is out on the street and burging your house for the next hit - it is still a valid form of addiction.

Sure Cousins had more support and structures in his life than most people - and that would have greatly assisted him in his recovery and ability to overcome his addiction (so far). But that is true of other people as well. I know loads of people who got into pot as young teens, then E's and Lou during the rave era who then, when Ice came around lost a lot because they took it too far. For the most part they carried on with their lives during the recreational times, but when they all started picking up pipes things changed... and i know people that did loose their jobs and failed relationships and friendships because it turned from a social experience into a addiction.

Others didn't cope with even the E's and Lou to begin with and probably didn’t finish uni etc because of it.

Others did travel down that other path, and needed the next hit, wanted to keep escaping, and picked up the dragon or the prick in the arm and I lost a mate to that son of a bitch.

But that is the common story - the pot head, turned recreational stimulant, turned JASON, turned body bag. Everyone knows that one. What we don't see is the guy in the suit, or the sports star, who does put pressure on those around him because of his social addiction... What we don't see is how much fun it is at the time, and that drugs can be a shit load of fun - and the Cousins doco showed that - and from that side of things, it did show a reality that is not often showed.

Whether that is a good thing or not is reputable. And in the end Channel 7 didn't give a shit, it was rating and $. But from a watchers point of view - yeah - I thought it was interesting and nice to see a different drug story get some coverage.

lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

and aroes, i can relate to this addiction all to well as well... thats why i KNOW its real... i had a fuck load of fun... its hard for me to say a bad word about it based on my experience, but i was lucky... still took hold of me, and controlled me for periods over 4 years... and the way Ben speaks is soooooooooooooo fukn real its scary

we all have different experiences, but if ben isn't being real, he does a damn good job of making up a fukn real story...
