can get accountants and shit too.
In Melbourne, Victoria, in 2002 there were only 66 notaries for a city with a population of 3.5 million and only 90 for the entire state.

tash i did. chemist fail.
and no they cannot certify this document. they sent it back to me as i had had a pharmacist witness it previously, and now im running out of time!
police couldnt either, needs a JP or notary public.
all my well laid plans for the future could literally come apart at the seams without this one fucknig signature.

Re: Gripe thread
i know many wont see this as a big gripe but it is... leaving London tomorrow for good, will not see lots of my great friends for a looooong time if at all, very sad... now i am back to living out of a small bag again, was enjoying having a home/bedroom for a change... very stressful change, you'd think I'd be used to it
I kissed a squirrel and I liked it... taste of her acorn chapstick
Re: Gripe thread
Part of the deal, innit. It's rad having friends all over the world, but it fucken sucks knowing that at any one time, you're going to be missing people. As absolutely overjoyed as I was/am at leaving Oklahoma, it still makes me sad that I am only going to see my friends/colleagues from there rarely, if ever again.
At least as the person leaving, you are heading to new and exciting things, which will no doubt win your attention and keep you from looking back too sadly.
Dunno how it works for the peeps left behind... As far as I can tell, it mainly involves not emailing me.

Quickles I know exactly how you feel. It's definitely tough, but the adventures ahead will soon take your mind off things. Having said that, there's nothing stopping you from staying long is there? Either way, adventurous types have to get used to constant change and saying goodbye. The benefits in the long run however, far outweigh that of a stagnant life!

Re: Gripe thread
the poor generally don't bemoan the state of the world and the bigger picture, but are more concerned with the basics of the day-to-day. i'm simply saying that we're so blessed in our own lives, that our gripes (well mine in particular) are indicative of that. not being able to book an overseas holiday because i might get the opportunity to live in another country with all expenses paid is certainly a middle class dilemma!

i know babe. i get you.
my middle class attempt at perspective is why i (and probs you too) end up going to 3rd world countries for my 'holidays' more often than other western countries, for a brief moment i really appreciate being around people who live moment to moment, meal to meal. every time im there, i am humbled. every time i return, i am full of gratitude.

Re: Gripe thread
That's a very interesting remark, and one that's been quite prominent in my life of late. Like most people, when I see the lives of the poor and oppressed I feel depressed, but it also has an effect of me becoming complacent in my own life, and that I should just be happy with what I have (which I am), but it also harms my own motivation to better my own life and become a bit complacent. Almost as though I should strive for greater personal wealth (be that knowlede or posessions) when others have so little.ghetto kitty wrote:true, but if i begin to gripe about the bigger picture and what is going on for most of the people in the world, i dont know if i have the motivation to go on in my middle class life tbh.witty_pseudonym wrote: lol @ our middle class dilemmas.
At the same time, it's all relative, and to hold yourself back from self-advancement because others don't have the opportunity is ridiculous, but it's an interesting self-observation i've made.
Carry on!

Re: Gripe thread
hmm really? i find the opposite. i find that realizing that so many people strive simply for food means i am even MORe determined to challenge myself and not be complacent because i have all these amazing things at my disposal, like fresh water, house to live in etc. i dont know that a strive for knowledge or possessions though, i think for me its more about striving for experience and then using my knowledge and mouth to spread the things i learn to help others strive too.Hardy wrote:That's a very interesting remark, and one that's been quite prominent in my life of late. Feeling ever so slightly stabby right now....
Fucking employee at work I don't think he likes the idea of his manager being a fair bit younger than him. Especially when he wants to give a discount on a product and that would mean asking the much younger person in the room what kind of a price we could do.
So what does he do. He goes outside and tries to ring MY BOSS the director cant get ahold of him so he rings the operations manager...the guy in charge of dispatch and ordering or goods etc etc
The even shitter thing was that I had no idea what was going on, only an inkling of it, because the customers were italian and he speaks italian. I had to wait until the entire transaction was done and dusted before I found out that he had knocked some money off the price and gotten approval not from the store manager but from the operations manager....
I managed to stay calm and bring it up with him that when it comes to pricing he needs to ask me about it if it's stock from here as I am the manager of the store, he half mumbled something about how he's just used to calling the other 2 I mentioned but seemed to listen....
