Can of Worms
I watched this the other night. Thought was actually quite good. Ex-retired heroin addict Greg something or other talking honestly about drugs and Angry Anderson (I dont know who he is)
Anyway was quite entertaining. One of the other subjects on the show was "do we celebrate or idolise sports heroes to the exclusion of other Aussies who do great things?"
And someone said something about Peter C Doherty who I had never heard of but who won the Nobel prize for medicine in 1996.

Anyone seen this show, anyone think sports stars are over-rated and had anyone else heard of Peter C Doherty? (who apparently is on the brink of curing cancer or some shit)

Re: Can of Worms
I think its terrible.
D grade celebrities giving their ill/non informed or at the very least isolated opinions on issues that I could care less about, and moderated by Dicko of all people.
I mean, as if anyone gives a rats arse what Don Burke thinks about issues of rasicm. Tell ya what Don, if I can't keep the snails off my hydrangea's then I'll ask what you think, in the mean time keep it to yourself.
In short I think it's complete trash, and the today tonight equivalent of a moderated panel discussion.
Now the answer to this is then just don't watch it.......don't worry I'm way ahead of you.

Re: Can of Worms
lol yeah I know what you're saying its not exactly ground breaking but it was quite funny.
Re: Can of Worms
I saw about 5 mins of it. Solidified my belief that most people shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinions.
Re: Can of Worms
Lol he is an out and out twit. Can't be arsed finding quotes, but some views he expressed a few years ago regarding the reasons people commit suicide were enough for me to conclude that he is a fairly shit blokeyouthful_implants wrote:and Angry Anderson (I dont know who he is)

Re: Can of Worms
yeah see what you mean YI, but why should we listen to the opinions of C grade celebs that the media (in this case amostly Ch7) tells us are people worth listening to?
the small bits of the show i have seen have infuriated me tbh. not helped by the terrible host.
other people's opinions can be interesting for sure. just rather watch insight, Q&A or read twitter than watch this particular show myself

I'm with Hardy on this one. It might be wanky (and obviously conceited) but I do believe I know better than most of the muppets that appear on, or watch the show.youthful_implants wrote:I dont know, I'm interested in what other people think. Re: Can of Worms
I saw a bit of one of the first episodes, must admit it was pretty funny seeing a lot of bogans arguing about what a bogan was.
Don't hate me for house

All you need to do is read the letters section to the Herald Sun and comments on their website, and you will believe.youthful_implants wrote:I dont know, I'm interested in what other people think. Re: Can of Worms
i think the majority of people on this forum are more well read than most; and that that show is not really for us, and that it is more for people who don't read articles, watch the news, or educate themselves in anyway. The show at least illustrates two sides to every situation/circumstance/opinion, at least making people think
