Hmmm I tend to disagree with that. If your really hitting good mixes then you can build up a certain momentum and energy that you can't get by just letting the tunes play IMO. Plus I like to hear people blending, layering and crafting different rythms on top of each other. Personally I would get really bored if I was to just play tune after tune without interact with the music.Lindemon wrote:That's a good point FW, 1 of the best DJ's I've ever seen, the almighty Keb Darge, didn't worry about tight beatmixes, cause every track he played was absolute FUNKin brilliance, he'd just fade out, tell the crowd what the next track is (which is cool, heaps o'DJ's are far to precious about what tunes are in their box. e.g-Freq Nasty wouldn't tell me who the breaks remix of 'Inner city Life' was done by, which led me to believe it was him..)
& continue to FUNK our brains out, no-one remembers your mixes( unless your a mash-up whizz a-la-2ManyDj's), if your tunes are wicked enough..
Has anyone else heard the 'Legend of the Pissbucket' regarding Keb?
Tunes you just can't seem to mix right!
