Appetite on Errol St, Nth Melbourne, consistently excellent coffee.. they make their own blend, two beans from Sth America and one from Indonesia, ground and prepared locally. I go there every day without fail.. they alsohave options for Fairtrade coffee beans, which I think is also excellent..

yeah i know its not real coffee but ive had some that taste almost the same, even lavaza but im sure there are tastier out there

handy to have some in the cupboard for when you get that craving but don't want to be up all night and cactus at work the next morning....

edit: maybe i shuld try some twin peaks style decaf, straight from the diner?:

Thought I'd give soy a bash the other day. No good. Sweetness was all wrong.

Had a coffee made by the Victorian barrista champion yesterday, it was good, but not amazing. Could have had something to do with the vic market borek and doughtnut combo though -> ill. Would, however, do again.

so went to seven seeds today. had a dbl ristretto of their standard espresso roast - i think the same used at Brother Baba Budan I think - is it the same as the St Ali used elsewhere, like at jungle juice? I dont know... but i think it might be? It OK but for some reason im not enamoured with it

also had another coffee made on the clover machine - was interesting, quite refined and open way to taste the coffee

its an OK space, however, wasn't that fussed with the place overall. food looks ok though

in other news the fixie virus seems to have taken over melbourne's bicycle population

Went there yesterday, very nice, and they have bike stands inside!

Apparently Coffee Supreme has an open cupping session every friday at 2pm at their roastery in Richmond - might have to check it out!

have to say the staff were lovely as well, and the bikestands and space were a good touch

Im fond of the supreme south above others at the moment. but the organic is nice as well. the standard supreme i find boring as hell for an espresso

"coffee geek". It's a term that comes up again and again to describe the growing culture of coffee connoisseurs who make their consumption a point of difference. They engage in vociferous online debates on internet forums, blog-damn their bad experiences and form cults around their favourite cafes.

After all this coffee talk I've had to deal with getting a burnt cup of crap fro my loca (and I know they're not the best even when they are at their best).

I've been hitting Atomica again in Brunny, due to being nearby for recording my mates band and got some chocolately goodnes the frist 2 times, slight FA1L the 3rd visit,

aeropress = wow

amazing...

First go wasn't so good as I didn't stir the grounds properly, and the grind was too coarse (it should be ultra fine, like filter coffee), I just finished my second ever cup and I have to say that I'm VERY impressed with what this thing can do. No more $3.50 potential failures or plunger coffee for me... YAY
