No, not "soft all the way for me". Although I'd prefer a little "soft" to scrawny or muscular.

Toned, sure. Just not defined. For me.

For example: 'Sarah Connor' above, is defined - I don't like that.

And as for Madonna - SCARY!

PS: is this the blokes thread?

I have always thought that the concept of an economy that depends on consumption for growth is FA1L.

I don't think capitalism is completely cactus... perhaps it will be restructured and we will see things like financial insitiutions returned to the state.

Personally I would like to see public transport scrapped and giant slippery dips put up everywhere. So say I want to go to brunswick... I just climb the slippery dip in the city and ride it to brunswick. In the summer the slippery dips could have running water on them to keep them cool and make going places fun.

My sister gave me a sprig of lavender she'd picked from a neighbour's garden in Preston and it smells EXACTLY like super skunk. There isn't a glimmer of lavender fragrance in it, it's pure marijuana smell. It's weird. I was worried how I would explain it if a cop pulled me over on the way home

Chick on the tram today had the greasiest hair. Also, when I looked at her scalp I almost threw up... big flakes of scabby dandruff. She was immaculately groomed with porn-star nails and clean clothes but it looked like the Exxon-Valdez had run aground on her scalp in the middle of a blizzard.

why do you believe that capatilism has hurt more than its helped? on what grounds do you believe this?

Its not like its some artificial construct either - capatilism wasn't an invention of governments, its a result of human behaviour. pure free markets exist without government in the way. Yes people abuse the system and take advantage, but i fail to see anything better.

CIA - im dont think governemtns are the best at running financial institutions. aus has a good regulatory framework, govt doesnt run it and it works pretty well

Well I think the ABC is just a buffer and seems to make sense to buy time. the social results of an immediate stop to operation is HUGE

the car thing on prinicple i think is stupid if its just delaying the inevitable (as it was with mitsubishi) but if it helps with transitional restrcutute then it can be another matter

The reality is Capitalism is all about profit and for profit you need scarcity, if there was an abundant supply of diamonds, they wouldnt be worth squat. We currently live in a society that produces Scarcity. The consequence of this scarcity is that human beings must behave in self preserving ways, even if it means they have to cheat and steal in order to get what they want. It can be concluded that Scarcity is one of the most fundamental causes of aberrant human behavior, while also leading to complex forms of neurosis in other ways. If you take a statistical look at drug addition, crime and incarceration statistics, you will find that poverty and unhealthy social conditions comprise the life experience of those who engage in such behavior.
Human beings are not good or bad... they are running, forever changing compositions of the life experience(s) that influence them. The "quality" of a human being ( if there was such a thing ) is directly related to the upbringing and thus belief systems they have been conditioned into.
This simple reality has been grossly overlooked and today people primitively think that competition, greed and corruption are "hardwired" elements of human behavior and, in turn, we must have prisons, police and hence a hierarchy of differential control in order for society to deal with these "tendencies". This is totally illogical and false.

how do you need scarcity to have profit? its not just about consumption of limited resources. we have jsut seen a massive boom in wealth, which average joe australian has benefitted from, becuase of the sale of an abundant resource. this brings jobs, the people have good wages, this flows on to employment of others.

i dont know of a cotton crisis in china, but our underpants keep a shed load of people in work. and not all of them are suffering inhumane wage conditions, although this potential does get realsied due to insufficient regulation and corporate pressure.

but corporate excess does not invalidate capatlism.

you dont think people innately want to compete and be rewarded for effort? i think you'd find these behaviours in any environment, from a remote villaige to our cities.

greed and corruption occur in all environments. in a system where one doesn't feel properly rewarded for effort, the temptation for corruption is even greater.

wikipedia wrote: Plagiarism is the use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work.

Within academia, plagiarism by students, professors, or researchers is considered academic dishonesty or academic fraud and offenders are subject to academic censure. In journalism, plagiarism is considered a breach of journalistic ethics, and reporters caught plagiarizing typically face disciplinary measures ranging from suspension to termination. Some individuals caught plagiarizing in academic or journalistic contexts claim that they plagiarized unintentionally, by failing to include quotations or give the appropriate citation. While plagiarism in scholarship and journalism has a centuries-old history, the development of the Internet, where articles appear as electronic text, has made the physical act of copying the work of others much easier, simply by copying and pasting text from one web page to another.

Plagiarism is not copyright infringement. While both terms may apply to a particular act, they are different transgressions. Copyright infringement is a violation of the rights of a copyright holder, when material protected by copyright is used without consent. On the other hand, plagiarism is concerned with the unearned increment to the plagiarizing author's reputation that is achieved through false claims of authorship.

Righteo, here's a nice li'l story straight from the US of A....

One of my housemate's classmates was going out hunting on the weekend (for rabbits, I think). On the way, he hit a deer on his motorbike. This left both himself and the bike okay (riiiiiight), but the deer dead. He proceeded to load the dead deer onto his bike, go home, butcher it and eat it for lunch...

When I recounted this story with horror/amusement to my boss, he chirpily told me that this is why it was made illegal to eat roadkill in West Virginia (where he's from) - people would mow down deer in their cars for a snack Image Image
