I don't mind public speaking, but I can't control my blushing at the best of times and I hate going red as a beetroot when I am standing in front of a load of strangers.

I get this negative feedback loop happening...

I'll start to blush, then I'll realise it and blush because I am blushing.

I have a lot of envy for people who can actually do public speaking. I'll happily dj in front of 1000 people and have them all looking at me, and be fine, enjoy it actually, but talking is a whole other ball game. No thanks, couldnt deal.

i'm terrible at it too. would be fine to talk in tutorials, in fact was often the only one who would, but make me present something when i know all eyes are on me, and i'm hopeless.
it totally is a vicious cycle. start blushing, blush more because of it, voice goes wobbly, blush more because of that, wobble more, shaky hands, more wobble/blush. argh! nightmare. hate it. so glad i don't have to do it in my job.

I think the positive thing to do is look at it like a challenge and you'll feel FABO when you nail it.

Thats the positive thing to do tho, maybe not the realistic one Cant say thats what I did.

I find it helps if you visualise the people you are addressing are you family.

I never tend to get embarrassed or blush around my family.

me too! man school was terrible. one time i was so nervous about it someone laughed when i started speaking and i thought it was cos i was going red, and went "shut up i can't help it!!!". Really loudly and kinda psycho looking i have a feeling.

apparently there is an operation to get rid of it. there is like a cord or something in your neck/back area that causes the blood vessels to go to your cheeks and neck, and you can get it cut and tied. I watched some doctor show (ages ago cos the facts have slipped the brain clearly) that they had it on. This lady was so bad with blushing she burst into tears at her wedding and ran out, and her husband had to go get her and calm her down. poor thing
