Delish Japanese last night!

Started with Sashimi, then onto:
ebi tempura - large hairy prawns wrapped w crispy thin cut pastry served w warm ginger soy dashi sauce
sukiyaki - thin sliced beef, shintake & oyster mushrooms, vegetables and vermicelli noodle in soya dashi sauce served in a hot pot
abeyaki udon - udon noodle soup with a soft poached egg, prawn tempura and diced chicken in a hotpot

With glasses of a lovely little 07 Villa Wolf Pinot Gris

Outstanding food, fresh, subtle, light everything you want Japanese to be...

well we have parents in town wanting to take us to dinner tomorrow (5 people all up including a pretty well behaved 4yo) and they are seeking a la carte - I'm thinking something definitely worthwhile french (i.e. not cheapmonger) but not totally glitzy excessive

I just don't got to go that sort of thing often! any ideas for us ? northside or city??

tips much appreciated

if i cant find anything, maybe we should suggest something else nice and spanish as an alternative? movida?

went to il solito posto on weekend. overrated imo- great space and ambience, ordinary food and wait staff just going through the motions, saving their best service for the lawyers ordering $500 bottles of wine

wouldn't bother

just make it up man. you'd need some parmesan or something similar kind of cheese for the crumb too i reckon. and some herbs and a couple of eggs to make that all stick to the chook.

then you have to worry about the napoli sauce. huhu

my palami (parama with added salami goodness) :

chicken breast, butterflied and flattened
wizz up a 50/50 mix of cornflakes and nacho cc's really fine
coat chicken with egg and roll in cornflake and cc's mix
shallow fry until golden
remove from pan and spread napoli sauce on as thick or as thin as you like (any napoli sauce, just jar stuff)
one layer of ham, one layer of salami
Top with cheese
grill under over till cheese is golden brown and is bubbling a tiny bit.

Ah, couldn't remember if that were down to you or Fents (no idea why I'd get confused.) May the chicken palami lasagne shepherds pie lovechild of your combined genius do you both proud.

Apparently there is somewhere that serves a triple deck parma.

Ever been to The Commercial Hotel in Alexandria? They've got about 30 parma's on the menu (ie. Parma with 30 options of topping). Don't think they have a triple deck though.
