yeah i reckon melbourne needs to be more hardcore. melbourne just aint hardcore. my friends came from the uk and they reckon we're piss weak. they have 3 day big fuck off parties whereas a majority of melbourne retire before clubs close.

maybe they get better quality drugs in sydney or something.

i thought part of the issue was demographic changes - docklands used to be a good area for it but now its being developed...

The urban redevelopment of Melbourne doesn't lend itself to free wharehouse parties...wish it did! Welcome to Melbourne 2030!

My first ever dance party excursion was at an illegal warehouse party...FUN!!!

What if something goes wrong?

Who is accountable for health ands safety?

You would need some sort of insurance I'd imagine.

Don't mean to be negative its just in this day and age you've really got to protect yourself from being sued, not to mention criminal charges if the shit hits the fan.

Shut up Eden :teef:

I'm just saying if someone gets fucked up in an unlicensed venue and does something stupid and breaks a leg or something,...chances are the promoter will get in alot of trouble.

I thought this was the main reason why warehouse parties aren't so big these days...

Yes I know there is like a 1% chance of something happening but ya know...could happen.

If someone goes to an illegal warehouse party and expects to be able to sue because the promoters didn't abide by proper OHS regulations, they deserve any and all horrible things to happen to them.

I agree.., but does the law see it that way?

(out of interest not argument)

i've been involved in plenty of squat and warehouse parties
gettin around 300 or so people never used to be a major issue.
but as demographics changed parties got pushed further out and people stopped coming.
last successfull one i ran was at factory four in brunswick
last good one i went to was dj scotch egg on wellington st about 9 months ago

BUT

i am running something at the warehouse on campbell st collingwood on the 28th of april
so far its gonna be an evening hiphop/dubstep/dubcore/jungle
i think 3k rig and serious visuals
djs from here, from interstate and i'm pretty sure a live band or two
stay tuned ...

The different people I party with are certainly hard core enough. Too many guys in pink shirts dragging the rest of us down.

I agree, a megarave at Scholtzy's would be the ticket.

case in point > friends of mine who had a great party warehouse in brunswick, let some dudes into their home to use it for an event, party got crashed by locals, one fell out a two story window and died.

there has been many other instances, so now if peeps live in a warehouse, they dont let others use it, or if theres a big empty one for a little while (louvain st) is gets used, gets cop attention, and its over quick.

bummer.

Wouldn't a basic "enter at own risk, management not responsible" sign do the trick??

im not sure what happened after, but there were inquries, etc etc
and my friedns were the people who lived there, not the promoters.

messy all round.

no more parties at their house.

I would never have a party at my place where I wasn't the most random and irresponsible person there.

Take from that what you will.

it's called exclusion clauses

ie. management is not responsible for personal injury, loss of valuables, etc, etc signage prior to entry.

the essence of squat parties should make attenders realize they are at their own risk.

Where the fuck is this party in Campbell St, Collingwood going to be? Campbell st houses more residential properties than commercial, thus i can see this being a HUGE problem.

Yeah but Sydney's club scene is shit... our is much better... that's most likely the need for warehouse parties up there.
