Over the weekend:
The sun came out from hiding, mango's plummited in price becoming fresh and plump, and summer began.
it's good to be alive

im so fucking down with this season's fruits it aint funny...

daily strawberries, to the point where yoshi has got permanently stained pink lips from all the tops!

I got 25 mangoes for $10 yesterday. I made 4 big jars of mango chutney last night (that's a few Christmass pressies sorted) and still got half the mangoes left.

*rubs hands waiting for them to get ripe*

I also got 3 big punnets of the nicest strawberries I've had for many years for $5. Was going to make a strawberry and chilli sauce but they were so nice fresh I couldn't bring myself to throw them in the saucepan.

mangoes down in springvale are fucking awsome, cheap as fresh as.......... bit far to travel but well worth it, going next week some time so we are stocked up for new years........... cant wait also stocking up on the fresh seafood for new years BBQ/dinner..... gonna get my cook on YEAH!

flesh of one large mango
1/2 cup of yoghurt (vanilla makes it sweeter)
1/2 cup of light milk
1/2 tsp of ground ginger
squirt of honey
some fresh lime juice (can use lemon or even some sorbet)
10 or so large ice cubes

if you're travelling to Melbourne along the M1 from Geelong, I suggest you stop off at the Caltex near the weribee exit sign (there will be a sign saying "garm fresh mangos at service station").

As the sign suggests, these are very fresh, soft and tasty mangos.

And cheap, which, in it's own weird way, makes them taste even better.
