Post by Baddums »

yo can anyone recommend some good external hard-drives for use with Serato, etc? i need to get one and want some direction...

main factors would be reliability, shock-resistance, price (in case it get's lost/stolen/breaks)

if you got spare firewire ports the new lacie drives are durable and work on 400 or 800 so they is fast as fuck
but i've got pretty generic external cases with 2.5 drives that bus power off firewire that have been carted everywhere for about 3 years without failing on me...

I use an 8gb USB stick. Faster than a hdd and less hassle. Although storage may be an issue for some.

make sure you format it FAT32
if you use NTFS it a mac will be able to read off it but not write to it, if you're formatting on a PC it will tell you that it can only make 32gb partitions, but its a lie. either format on a mac or grab one of the freeware apps that will let you do it
