Hey mate.

We do have a member list but I disabled it soon after setting up mb.c. My reason for this at the time was that I didn't think it would be useful and it was a very token measure to protect the privacy of forum members.

I would be happy to re-instate it if there was enough demand for it. If you like you can start another thread about it in the Help & Feedback forum and we'll see what people think.
What do we reckon peeps, its just a bit of fun I spose, nothin included that already isn't on view for all to see.

I vote privacy. I mean, 2000+ posts, I'd like to remain anonymous.

Serious, privacy or stfu :P

Can I ask why you think a memberslist would be any less private than what is currently on view?

The benifits would be to see all who are members, including those who don't post, plus, seeing how everyone compares post wize and joined date.

Not for me, its fun, and fun things arn't useless, I've spent heaps of time in the memberslist part of dsci4, seeing what peeps location is, joined date, and all the different users, not to mention how peeps are traveling in the post count department.

If its useless for you, then you are not opposed?

each to their own. glad you're having fun. :)

well, yes. there have been 2 fairly major security issues in recent versions of phpBB (the forum software) that revolved around the memberlist.

surely it'd be just as much fun to be clicking on every user's profile and reading the same? :P

I was not aware of that, well that sux, cos what about the people that don't post, there's no way to see all the members and stuff, and those that haven't posted in months and are forgotton about, we could have "Come back ........" threads... it'd be fun, and yes, I like fun. :P

Ok guys, here is a valid reason (in which i have experienced on THIS very forum) as to why we need a memberlist..

Follow the steps..

1. I want to send a PM to a user

2. The user RARELY posts on MB.com

3. I have to spend AGES searching the threads to find where that person has posted so i can get their profile details ...

4. I get annoyed... :P

Note:- If a user has NEVER posted, there is no possible way (unless their online) to find their profile details....

Good point, what if I wanted to PM a user who has never posted, and I know a few, how could I do it? And yes, they check the forums quite regularly.

Really? Cos i have been wanting to see the memberslist. Plus i think its handy for new members to not use anyone else's name or similar. We have a Sneak and a Sneaky Hands at the moment. It could get worse! :smt087
