so hot....
so glad not much time left in this house....
hey also the agent has told we have to get the house fumigated b/c of our cats...
our pets do NOT have fleas or other yuckies.... can she make us do this?
We are getting the carpets done anyway, but am a tad pissed about getting inside and out fumigated......
esp when they have left us to live with a leaky roof for almost 3 years

More the point - did they specify "no pets".

The agent has met one of them, when she came into our house uninvited she scared our little miss who hid for hours...

my grandma passed away yesterday.
she escaped germany as a nazi child (no shit) to live in the US in the thirties or so....I have one of her swastikas turned upside down in a box.
she has been in a home in San Fran for eight years or so (she was 89)
but has been senile for most of that time.
i feel wierd about it, kind of hollow, shes my last grandparent, but to tell the truth she was quite manipulative and used to blackmail me when i was little. did not want us to move to aus, my aussie mom was no good etc etc
my family now consists of four people, including me.
RIP lottie de mond.

yikes to all the grandparents passing
my great aunt (i think that is what she would be) passed last week. She took care of me when i was little, haven't seen her (maybe like once or twice) since we moved back to Melbs when i was 7ish.
i actually thought my mum was calling about my remaining nan who is getting worse and worse by the day

GK, sorry to hear about your grandmother. I have no grandparents left either, but I treasure my memories of them.
One grandma used to cook me fish fingers as a treat. One used to make me gorgeous outfits. One grandpa would let me have some of his mints, and the other one didnt scold me too much when I used his shaving cream to wash dolly's hair

wow, i guess we must be at that age when the grandparents leave us.
RIP to all the generations who made us who we are.
things that remind me of grandflakes (yup i called her that)
cans of tab
the smell of dry cleaners (she owned one)
the bold and the beautiful
the chipmunks xmas album
green extra chewing gum
cadillacs with electronic everything
the words 'schnukums" for me and 'schmuck' for the bad guys.
when she started gonig senile she used to get out the front and polish the leaves of her mirabush tree with tissues and mayonaise. no shit. so they were extra shiny.
wierd things to remember i guess.

I say take your time. Went through the same thing before Christmas, what was even harder was car hunting with no freggin' car! Ended up with a Toyota Yaris XRS 2007 in the end took us a good 3mths before deciding! Once you know which model to go for it'll get easier. As we also were flicking through Golf, Astra & Mazda.FoundationStepper wrote:GOTW: buying a car

yeah true, thanks
our car blew up so its hard to take too much time...
theres one golf we are looking at, friend of a friend, its got excellent servce history etc, which makes the decision easier.
gotta visit the khunts at the used car places first though, to get a better feel for things

how much is servicing the golf?
usually jap cars or local cars are cost heaps lesss to service, somthing no one ever considers. They buy a nice looking euro car for good bucks but dont realise it will cost a few grand for a 60,000K service.
Trust me honda's are cheap to service as are toyota's if that helps.

yeah it is a big consideration. from what im told the golf isnt HEAPS more but it is certainly more expensive to service.

Not true. I knew when I was buying my Puggy that I'd be paying extra when it was at the mechanic. Helps that my brother give me a big talk about it before I bought the car. His job is importing Mercedes parts, so he tried to talk me into getting a Toyota like himFents wrote:usually jap cars or local cars are cost heaps lesss to service, somthing no one ever considers. people either have no idea about the car, or they tack on a good $500 extra cause it is a Renault....
Steam. Helps you cough the foreigns and infections out. Boil some water, throw it into a big bowl with a few drops of Frankincense or Eucalyptus oil and sit over it with a towel over your head (closing any gaps...don't let the steam escape). Close your eyes though, cause the oily steam will get in and cause some hurties. Do it a few times a day and you'll find yourself very coughy and phlegmy, then you can eject it.nhd wrote:I am sick. chest infection. theres a heap of mucus crap on my larings/lungs that i cant shake, im coughing so much my ribs hurt. Been taking some mediciny stuff but anyone got any other remedies?
Coughing is basically the body trying to eject stuff. It's a good sign that you're getting over it.
Good luck bud
