Gripe thread
a bunch of people were sacked from my work today, guess who was among them...
they've gotten rid of all their sales staff and plan to replace them with uni grads with years of technical service experience. Cause technicians know all about customer service
I'm fucking crushed.
They even got rid of the warehouse guy who just this morning announced that his girlfriend was pregnant and they plan to marry. How fucking sad is that? The bossman said it had nothing to do with us, we worked super hard and he would give us all gleaming references but...
Thanks John Howard, for making this all possible

When do you all need to move on? Why the warehouse guy tho? what uni educated Techi type could do his job better? It is a warehouse...
I'm already at home Charliegirl. We all got shoved off to Buffalo immediately.
I've got no idea why they sacked the warehouse bloke. I don't think the bossman thought this through very well. It's gonna cause them incredible issues since they don't have a replacement for him and the orders are coming in thick and fast...
I'll be ok, it's just such a massive shock

Thanks guys, I really needed some nice warm fuzzies and internet cuddles...feeling a bit
Nah Charlie, no payout except what's owed and a week in lieu. Pathetic effort really. No good will at all. It would have been nice if they'd given me a week at least, so I could look for a job while I still had one cause that always looks better to prospective employers.
I'll be blazing the employment section tomorrow. Tonight? I get completely >>

I wasn't on an AWA, I had a proper contract and everything.ghetto kitty wrote:god these AWAs are fucked.
Shit, now I'm beginning to wonder if it's all legit. They sacked us cause the company's changing and our roles are changing, but we weren't made redundant. Does that work??
Where's mrj when you need him

dig out your contract, it should specify a notice period in pretty plain english. look for conditions under which either party may terminate: usually this is either at any time due to 'gross misconduct', or with a given amount of notice for any reason. if they have a longer notice period, then you have them by the balls: either they have to retrospectively go for gross misconduct (which would be going against what they've already said: save your emails etc), or they have to pay out your notice period.mixtress wrote:I wasn't on an AWA, I had a proper contract and everything.ghetto kitty wrote:god these AWAs are fucked.

I'm getting him to read through my new work contract before I sign it.
Everyone needs to be as informed as possible in this day and age... even in a job market like this one.
Best of luck mixi, and mrj is on da case
I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."
Been there since Feb 1st, well past the 3 months probation. Full time permanent. The boss called me into his office around 3.30pm and just said 'today's your last day here'. I was in complete shock. Told me he was changing the whole company and the sales team was being replaced with technicians. That was pretty much it.Hardy wrote:Fuck Mixxi, that BLOWS. How did they do it? Were you casually or temporarily employed?
Gonna contact my old old old boss from HT. We were gonna have lunch a while ago and I think he was gonna offer me a job then, so hopefully he has something for me.
Thanks again everyone, super appreciated. I'm trying to put it all aside so I can enjoy QLD next week. Good times ahead, good times ahead, good times ahead...
No more gripes from me
