'Smile on Impact' initiated contact with 'Captains' in 2009 by sending them electronic signals over the Google. He had been aware of their fame and awe in Sydney , Australia , but thought he’d wait until they moved to the US , before he suggested collaboration.
Captains have sailed the seven seas and played shows to land-lubbing crowds from California to the New York Islands . They’ve shared stage with the trendiest of Aussie bands from ‘Children Collide’ to ‘Dukes of Windsor’ and recorded their debut album with the legendary Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dandy Warhols)
‘Smile on Impact’ from Melbourne , has sent lightning bolts of funk through the Dance Music scene. Tracks like ‘Wisdom Teeth’ and ‘STOP!’ have had support from Australia’s most prominent DJs, charting in the ARIA club chart and being played on NOVA, JJJ and FOX FM.
At first, Captains were weary of this strange “Sea Monster / Nordic God” as all sea fairing folk should be. But he soon earned their trust, with a series of polite puppet shows. This trust was not betrayed and “Man Outta Me” was born. The indie grooves and smooth vocals of Matt and Rizz from the band, combine seamlessly with the large electronic squelches and cheeky production by Arlo of Smile on Impact. The result is as timely as it is classy. Indie Electro; from 2010 to eternity. Smile on Impact strikes hard with his 4 versions of the track alongside remixes from ‘Fabian Gray’, ‘What Now’ and the mysterious ‘Science of Night’ from Estonia .
