More for the headphones than the dancefloor. I'll get around to uploading some more danceyish ones soon too.

Production sounds tight mate - not my sorta thing though.
Did you write the piano at the start of 'Kept'?

thanks for listening mate. Yeah, it was one of the first things I did in reason, pretty sure. At least it's the oldest project file I've got - thats why it's called Kept.

A wee bit of a live hiphop jam. This came out of preparing an existing studio dubstep track (remix of AC23's tune) for live playing - I wanted to see how far I could stretch it from the original with the same sounds and patches loaded up and took it in a hiphop direction - it was most definitely the most fun I've had in the studio since starting out in electronic music
Guitar riffs are layered with keyboard and sustain pedal; Akai APC40 used for launching and glitching vocal and precusive loops, basslines, and controlling all device parameters and effects; Korg PadKontrol used to play drums; footpedals for momentary FX sends etc. Clip launching is unquantized, with use of master tempo and nudge buttons to pull them into line if things get a bit stray - I found this easier to do than the other way around (adjusting my playing to the loops) as I was finding it very difficult to use a metronome for this sort of thing and keep it all locked to the grid. The result is nice and loose though so I will probably use this method for most wonky/glitchy hiphop type beats. Mix is pretty rough around the edges!
and bellow is the original dubstep version if you're interested
started out going for a halfstep DnB/'autonomic' vibe, ended heading in more of a miscellaneous electronica direction. Could probably add another layer to sharpen the the kick drum and still take it in for of a dancey/DnB direction but kinda like where its roughly at as it is.
