I'm all for op shopping and indie rock bands, but these cunts have bastardised things which were once great.........growing a moustache, track bikes, drinking coffee, wayfarers etc

Kill them all

Maybe like 2 things.. none of the other things they wear/do are great!

My whole sharehouse i used to live in in rae street is now all hipsters. They didn't start off as hipsters when they moved in either. I'm glad i got out when i did! I could have ended up like this!

Andy is a closet hipster imo. There must be a root/cause for all this resentment.

My legs are too fat to be a hipster. There's no way i could do skinny jeans so no way i could be a hipster :teef:

so you're saying the only reason you aren't a hipster is because you can't wear skinny jeans? i'm sure most of us have seen someone who doesn't quite exactly fit (or have the legs for) skinny jeans and still wears them.

there's always room for one more at the hipster party...

Haha no thanks. I'll pass. I'm also into wearing glasses with lenses in them so can't be a hipster. Also prefer effective brakes on my bike and gears for getting up hills. Also prefer shoes that have more than 3mm soles and aren't shiny leather and pointy enough to stab someone with.

this is true.
we were reminded the other day however, that the bruns isn't quite gentrified enough to avoid seeing people shitting in the street.

are you talking about sameo's cardigan? :D

i'm told that a fairly large portion of our feb party (i wasn't here) were brunswick hipsters. barkly sq is my local coles, cracks me up in there sometimes. but ah well, i guess it's no more retardedly trend-following than those few years everyone wore blank hoodies.

charlie you should see the king of the hill episode about hipsters coming and taking over a suburb. funny.

tbh hipsters don't really bother me... I've known people with that sort of look for years actually. It's just the moustaches I can't handle... MOUSTACHES ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE!!! take a look in the mirror before you head out and decide "is a moustache really for me?" It's like Movember (which I hate) all year

I've been going up to them and saying "you realise it's 7 months 'til (mo)november? getting a head-start is cheating mate"

Another thing that pisses me off, which although not necessarily a hipster thing, is people with tattoos on their necks

It's taken off in the last few years and it makes me cringe. Do these people realise that in 20 years they will all look like a bunch of total losers who jumped on a fad and got a swallow or some some flourish script in a spot where they do not have the option of hiding it. Ever

Good luck being taken seriously, coz imo you look like an immature twerp with mummy issues

Im a big hater too. There's a huge over-abundance of them floating around chapel st atm.
And Iv been seeing heaps of younger ones near where we live in Armadale. 18yo fukkers riding round on $2k+ fixies wearing the latest in hipster trends. You just know they've milked mum and dads bank accounts!

They are no different from any ink, if it is shit then it is shit no matter where you get it...

I do fret about all these kids that have jumped on the ink bandwagon tho, this is NOT something you should be faddy about...

I got my first geez 17 years ago now.. Holy shit been that long, and i will get them for years to come, but as a chick it was def frowned on when i started... Now it seems like every young thing is going and getting anything cause it is tres cool...

They are no different from any ink

Disagree Charlie........I'm probably the most heavily tattooed person I know, but if I'm wearing pants and a shirt (which I generally try to do  ), you can't see a single skeric of inked skin

I value the fact that I can show and hide my tattoos at will. When you get one on your neck, you relinquish that right

Basically what I'm saying is that in the not so distant future, there'll be an entire generation of ex-hipsters who look like total douchebags coz they all have tattoos on their necks

End rant, let the hipster bashing continue :retzielikes:

Yeah see i disagree - all of mine can be shown or hidden at will as well (could not have worked in the corporate game to the level i used to with them on display), but just cause you can hide a piece at will doesn't make it a good piece, as i stated a shite piece whether hidden or not is still a shite piece.... And if you are designer, or work in a field where the ink is NOT a detraction then it will not ever impact your career and therefor will most likely not be an issue in older life either, as long as it is a good one! Quality is the key
A good bit of art that is placed well, done well and suits that person is still a good bit of art...
Something that is a piece of shite and done poorly even if hidden on a torso is still a piece of shite, done poorly...
There are just as many bogans, ordinary average people (i will say i am afraid mostly young girls) that have made ink choices on their arms, backs where ever that when they 60 will regret them just as much.... LOTS on upper arms etc that are terrible!

Just my 2c...

@ Huge - ned to track down that episode!

I see what you mean

I was focusing more on the fact that's it's on your neck and can never be hidden. Ever. Regardless of whether it's good or not. I don't think the hipster youth of Melbourne have factored this into their decision to get inked

Anyway, happy days
