try and get a quote from one of the headliners or lynt/sk/lucie/ani etc "I support this cos etc etc". It's a personal show done by a group of people so I think it needs some kind of personal touch like that
put the date and venue in the subject title - very important for street press as they cut and paste everything.
send it as message text not as an attachment - eds/writers don't always read attachments
instead of putting $20 minimum, why not put. "$20 on the door, however we encourage patrons to give generously." or something along those lines - $20 minimum sounds a bit clumsy.
this sounds really salesy, but have a look at the other tsunami based events and their press releases, and make yours different ... if everyone is saying the same message the impact will be lost.
if the prince gets a mention for donations then i think agent mad, koan, dmc etc should also be given props for their help.
this is crazy though - look at the lineup. respect!

looks good karl
It reads pretty formal tho... and im worried about it getting too wordy.. we risk control of what is cut out if too big.
And yes, we def. need to make sure the PR is sent in body of message not as attachment..... they crack it otherwiwse
Edit: maybe next to the 'beat.aid' title at top put the date and venue

i don't think it reads too salesy ... but a general thought I've had is I think some of the tsunami relief events have alterior motives (not scamming profits, but purely PR devices to raise brand awareness for a venue/promoter) ... definitely not this one ... but you don't want readers thinking this.
i guess call to action phrases should be avoided - 'don't miss out' on the CD for sale.
The objective would be to put the message out there and let people process it in their own way. Like the reader sees it and says - 'hey, these guys have all come together to do a party, money is going to charity and it looks fun. I'd like to be involved.' Instead of - and I've seen this in some other charity threads - 'DJ XYZ is donating his entire fee so you should come and drink the bar dry as we've said we'll donate an unspecified amount of takings to a charity we're yet to decide.'
That said - i think the latest one is great and the event is gobsmackingly ill! Just minor comments/waffling

small revision - some suggestions ...
