akai samplers

what's the dif, asides from physically of course between an mpc and akai pro rackmount machine.

does the rackmount have the same effects and sequencing power as the mpc?

was tempted to buy an mpc 2000, fully expanded/8 outs/max ram for $1000, but have found more recently an akai pro s 3000xl rackmountable machine for less than $500 (is about 6 years old). i know i'll need a midi controller, was gonna get one of those flash korg micro ones with the 16 pads, keyboard and sliders anyhow for my puter. should i go with the rackmount?

akai s5000 seems alright.

if you gonna get emu get a e64 ultra.

ive seen em go for about $800-900 in second hand shops.
