Damn I don't know if my beer money would last that long! Who would seriously stay for the whole time if it isn't D&B?
That's so plausible I can't believe it!

Just got an email:
1 DJ
100 hours
1500 tunes
1 Guinness World Record
and
$500,000 for charity
In early 2006, DJ Promo – a prolific British-born DJ whose career has seen him behind the decks in London at Ministry of Sound and Fabric, plus a host of venues around the world – will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous DJ session marathon,
The record currently stands at 84 hours and was set in February 2005 by Genix (UK). Although DJ Promo would need to beat the existing record only by a matter of minutes to take the title, his aim is to complete a marathon set of 100 hours’ continuous mixing.
Two things set this attempt aside from its predecessors: first, DJ Promo has insisted on being drug tested after completing the attempt to prove that no illegal substances have been used; and second, it’s being staged in an effort to raise at least $500,000 for two Australian charities.
The beneficiaries are Challenge, which supports children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening blood disorders; and The Big Issue, which enables homeless people to take steps towards basic self-reliance, self-confidence and ultimately getting off the street.
The attempt will be staged in a purpose-built nightclub in Federation Square - one of Melbourne’s busiest outdoor public spaces. In order to comply with the Guinness World Record rules and regulations, we need to have a dancing audience at all times. Don’t panic, though - you won’t have to dance for 100 hours, as the rules state that the longest anyone is allowed on the dance floor is four hours at a time.
So, now you know who we are, what we’re doing and, most importantly, why we’re doing it. It doesn’t matter whether you have two hot feet, two left feet, or even no feet at all, we’d love for you to get involved and help fill the dance floor. It’ll be a lot of fun, and you might even get your 15 minutes of fame! Drop us a line at [email protected] to confirm you’re up for the challenge, and we’ll keep you updated as the project progresses.
Yours inn sleeplessness,
Matt Solo (DJ Promo)

hey all. This is definitely GENUINE. Matt is training hard and doing sleep dep training aswell. His going for it with no chemical assistance. We'll be handling the visuals for the period too. The world record at the moment is 84 hours (i think) so he only really needs 85, but is going for 100. As far as we know it's happening in Fed Square in Feb.
and yeah, $500k for charity is the other goal so the more people there during the week the better!
keepin it on the low brow for a while until everythings confirmed tho...

I considered doing it myself about a yera ago but people keep breaking the record and it becomes more and more unlikely.
I believe you get a 10 minute break every 4 hrs or something and your not alowed to use drugs.
It's all very by the book, Guiness Book actually.
Good luck Matt, I will drop in after after work one night unless I am to tired, but thats not really a good excuse to not show up is it.

it's on June 12th.... who thinks he's really gunna do it? I'm sceptical
He has to have at least one person dancing at all times... What if you were the only one there? You couldn't leave because you'd no doubt feel terrible that you'd buggered his record attemp.

Its around the same time that the world cup soccer is on, so I think there should be a fair few people in and around fed square at the timedeviant wrote:http://www.inthemix.com.au/whatson/show/28345/

What Benjamin said, its similar to what reguritator did with the band in the bubble thing, but bigger. Think it can fit around 100-150 people in it? means that it all complies with sound restrictions, etcshepherd wrote:it's in some prupose built vortex nightclub so the soccer won't make any difference.

Nup, thats a rule that Matt himself has created - and if he passes it, going forward it will be the new rule for all attempts.deviant wrote:^^ I thought he was required to be drug free.

everyone should definitelyget down there for 9pm tonight. He'll break the world record (84hrs) then, and get to the 100 mark @ 1pm tomorrow. I've been there doing visuals everynight and this place has the BEST vibe, and Matt is going strong! we've all kinds of crazy nuts in there and a few regualrs that come every night. It's been a fuckn great event from day one. (especially with the soccer crowd on monday night...)
