Who are Stan & Bonez?

Post by great_magnet »

I don't know if you other CBD workers/dwellers have noticed the influx of tagging on a grand scale by the seemingly ubiquitous Stan & Bonez.

Whilst their tags bear all the quality of a dislexic six year old with webbed fingers, the sheer volume and size of their body of work is staggering.

They have managed to cover some of the most bizarre landmarks in the city, I keep waiting for the giant tag on the 81st floor of the Eureka Tower lift shafts to inevitably appear...

Anyone else noticed their stuff???

HaHa is everywhere ... haven't had my eyes open for stan &/or bonez.

Still see Dorps popping up in dusty, untouched places too (they're old, but still not bested) in some areas. But then again, I haven't really been on public transport for awhile - not during the day, anyway.

I'm glad I found this post, because yeah I see their tags everywhere... having no car I catch alot of PT all over the place, and yeah their stuff is literally on every side of town.... there's some massive ones you see on the train from the city to North Melbourne, near the FCUK sign, under the freeway... seriously so many people would have seen these guys work, and prolly not even known it....

Speaking of prolific taggers there's a paste up that's all over Prahran... sorta hard to descibe, it's usually of this guy with big eyes, usually holding a glue brush... or a septer looking thing? Does anyone know who does these? I think I saw their art on a skateboard which got me intrigued...

I've often wondered how they achieve that drippy parkinson's style font. Nothing if not unique.

They're pretty big for paste ups.... sometimes 1.5m maybe more? There's tons of different ones... in fact I don't think I've ever seen two the same, they're all very much in the same style though so I'd say it's the same person....

It's crazy huge! I look up at it on my way home every night and ponder life in Collingwoods big questions....

1. How?
2. Why?

Could be Kaon or braddock both of those descriptions sound like they could kinda be it... more so monsterish dudes in a cartoon kinda style, clearly defined lines...

If anyone lives near greville st. there's a solicitors there with a big red wall (up the chapel st. end) and there's a massive one on it right now, and has been for a week or so... that solicitor guy must repint his wall once a month I reckon, it gets absolutley covered in shit...

growing up it was guys like Duel, Ransom and Merda.

then it was Nabit (RIP), Tame, New, Puzle and Kem.

but I've gotta say that in his prime, Spek rocked shit and got up like a mother fucking machine. respect.

(I think his giant whitewash job in the Camberwell trench might still be there after 12 years too!)

Looks liek someone over the weekend had a practice with fire extinguisher type stuff on Gertrude St, in the empty site between Getrudes Bar and the building next door. Covered in white splatters....

I don't quite understand what 70k are trying to do, but fuck do they try to be shit. I kind of think thats the point. Bloody art students i'm guessing. Talk about flipping the script.

By the way samo, there are many artists that do stuff for blank.
