Piccolo is closed - has been for awhile unfortunately. Used to spend hours there back in the day. Hells Kitchen isn't too bad - depends what they do to their lighting, and no smoking until 3pm.

Robot is good, Hidden bar across flinders lane from the Robot alley isn't too bad either. Tempo on degraves isn't too bad, haven't been for awhile though - if Luca is still running it, it can be quite interesting (he's one funny but rude dude ;))

hidden bar, lustre lounge (open tuesdays?), charles dickens (ew), deanery, woodfire cafe is ok for dinner, honkeys is quiet during the week and great view of train lines, manchester lane, pheonix, zucini canteen.

all though not near flinders I do dig Soft Belly in Lt. bourke near hardware lane. nice vintage funky sheek.

Heh true, their dimmer has little epileptic fits too ... if it ever gets to you, they store their San Pellegrino & mineral water under their couch seats ;)

... and yeah quick - my mate got that for his b'day a month or two ago - 52 bars! One for each week! With a photo to match ... there's some Bambu bar that I wanna check out somewhere near Spring St.

this is a cool joint. although the massive gay man is a bit scary, they do pour tripple shots as standard tho. makes for a cheap night.

havent been there in a while tho. may have changed.

Yeah - Misty was a cool place, haven't been in awhile either. Got some nice Citylights urban lightbox artwork in Hosier lane though ... whenever I walk down there, I keep meaning to go into Misty, but it's always closed.

As for Luca @ Tempo ... I spent far too much time there between 1999 - 2001, I reckon he's got some underground/mafia-like gambling going on

I'm still lovin St Jerome's (Caledonia Lane, almost directly behind Lounge, off Lonsdale St). Mostly for the long necks of Melbourne for 8 bucks and the fact that you can explore the warehouse out the back.

Makes for an interesting night when you get lost on the 4th storey of a dust covered staircase...

corker of a joint. i went there quite a bit when it just opened. the 'door' leading out to the back was just a hole in the wall at that stage.

it gets very very crowded now tho..

any one heard of this "stock market" place up near 'pony'.

works like a stock market, if people are buying scotch the price of Gin goes down, etc. Sounds interesting. If we get enough people to buy at once maybe we get Rum down to nothing.

I like that idea ...

... and yeah, St. Jeromes is too packed these days - had a lot more going for it when it was more underground. But still, there are people that haven't heard about it and love it when they walk through it and into the outside decking area. What I really like about that place is it epitomises the whole Melbourne bar/cafe culture ... a cosey, urban hide-away hole with great music and chill vibe.

I dont know if a hose out will really do the job down there, its taken years and years of dedicated cultivation of stench...

Its a shame its a rip off from a pub/bar in Geelong called Maxx's. I went there with friends on a thursday who go to Deakin at the Geelong Campus, they actually named the night 'Market Night' and someone's decided to rip it off and bring it to Melbourne, it is a great idea tho. Ended up getting $1.10 pots, $2.20 spirits, its all about patience. I did get pretty fucked up that night and spent under $20. BARGAIN!
