kicks/sneakers/trainers/runners
I know there's a Consumer/Collectibles thread, but I thought kicks deserve their own thread.
so here it is.
And to start it off........
Marine Parade Etnies - UK Size 10 - US Size 11- EU Size 45 - Japan Size 29
After co-ordinating a highly successful marketing and promotions campaign for the launch of his "Now and Them" album and live tour, Freeland asked Phil Dawson* (a friend and final year student at Chelsea College of Art and Design) to design the Marine Parade shoe.
Working closely with Adam, the etnies design team and Afour distribution, Dawson reworked the classic Callicut shoe, stripping it bare of all its features and rebuilding it, to reflect the personality of the Marine Parade label. His design features soft white leather with the Marine Parade conch shell logo subtly stitched into the sides and chunky navy laces.
"Its been great working with etnies, they have been exceptionally cool and patient while we tried out mad over the top prototypes that, basically through trial and error, we simplified and stripped down to a really subtle classic shoe that I'm really proud of." - Adam Freeland.
Limited Edition: No more will be availabe once they're sold!

5 item(s) available
Price: £ 100.00 \ € 148.39
the Stanton Warrior Adidas kicks are apparently now in production also.
get the whole Breakbeat collection!

OMG GC, you are out of control with the kicks. And the really schmicko spesh ones too. You don't mind do ya?
I love trainers. Have a sizeable collection of maybe 10-11 pairs but nothing too exciting- just Pumas and Asics and Adidas
:I still wear the one same pair all the time though- issues:

Lynty, I was close to getting the Etnies too. You're right though, at $300 they would be the most expensive kicks I've ever bought. Only just though

The rubber plant was surprised. If the rubber plant could have spoken, it wouldn't have said anything. That's how surprised the rubber plant was.

they did about six years ago. wearing them in involved blood (there was a ridge on the shoe about halfway through the ridge on my sole), and when they wore out, there was blood too (from the plastic rubbing against the heel). but shit, I still loved them.D wrote:Do they even make those anymore!?fooishbar wrote:when I moved, I finally had to throw away my beloved Acupunctures that I'd had for years. *sigh*

All nikes, past and present look shit. Jordans are shit. It's all shit. I've owned a few nikes, they last like what, 3 months...wow, good workmanship on those. took all but 30c to make any of those. but you're paying $200+ on research&dev....ooooh shox! i'm impressed. /sarcasm.ADD_Boy wrote:Agreed.breaksRbest wrote:yeah, I agree. I've got a pair of Mizuno runners, fitted to my foot shape and walk style and they've lasted 3 years so far, with extensive abuse.
If you buy shoes on the merit of style and looks, i don't care. It's your cash, and i'm of the opinion you get what you pay for. I've had a shocking run with Nikes and will never buy them ever. Haven't since '99 anyway. My point is, they still look as bad as they are made.
You can't polish a turd!
So you buy shoes based on comfort, fit and function only?I've got a pair of Mizuno runners, fitted to my foot shape and walk style and they've lasted 3 years so far, with extensive abuse.
Come on you must have some aesthetic senses!!! You cant really tell how comfortable a shoe is until you have bought it and worn it anyway.
I have to say I buy on looks first, its impossible to ignore the way things look...unless you are an engineer.

mmm I'm jumping on the cynic bandwagon but... i'm simply over the whole sneaker thing. I but em cos they're comfortable and durable, not because they're limited edition whatsits in gaudy horrible colour schemes and what the hells with "classic" styling? Its just selling the same old shit they were selling 15 years ago except now they charge a fucking arm and a leg for it.
