"But do you think i'm wrong? But am i wrong?" man i wanna watch it again and have a drink every time he says that cos i reckon i would be well tanked by the end of the movie
watched the last of the 3 parts on SBS last night. amazing program but missed the first one unfortunately so will be getting it out on dvd soon.
would highly recommend it to everyone...gets you pretty fired up.
Saw "Steamboy" yesterday ... the long awaited second feature length anime movie by the director of Akira.
Began production in 1995 and due to financial problems, the film was put on hiatus in 1998. Production companies Production I.G and Sunrise got involved and brought the film back to production. A total of eight years was spent for the making of the film.

i wouldn't say the corporation makes you angry ... it's a pretty decent documentary and even though it leans to one side (like most) it does paint a better picture of the corp landscape than any other i've seen (which isn't exhaustive by any means).
i watched it all in one go off div-x and 3 hours is too long ... does have some interesting elements within but most of it is pretty obvious and it lacks the humour super size me had ... which i think has an impact on the take-in of the message.
michael moore closes it out with a comment that is pretty insightful ... but kinda hypocritical considering how sensationalist Farenheit 9/11 was.

so the water priviatisation in bolivia didn't make you angry? the idea that in the future every conceivable commodity will be owned by 5 corporations didn't make you angry? obviously we have different reactions to things, but the helplessness i felt and the enormity of the situation was something that got me angry. i certainly felt pretty overwhelmed by the issues they raised.
also i think in many ways if they had have tried to make the show humourous it would have lost a lot of it's impact.
looking forward to seeing the whole thing...but you're right 3 hours straight might be a bit much.
those things didn't make me angry - that's not to say they didn't have an impact.
i didn't mean it should have been haha funny ... but the doco paints an extremely bleak picture - almost like there's no hope. they cite little examples of companies doing anything good - and if you side something so one way you have to start questioning the underlying tone.
Checked out Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, good from which bits i recall very good. Im going to need to watch it again tonight. Jim and Kirsten put in excellent performances.
Mean Girls on the other hand was waaayy too long and wayyy to shit. Was thinking it would be a good trashy easy watching movie. It wasnt.
saw most of collatoral on the weekend. Not half a bad film, kinda got a little bit of a vanilla sky vibe too it as well.
Also saw COnfessions of a Dangerous Mind AGAIN.
love that film.
Going to see RAY tommorrow night.
I have a bit of a thing about seeing movies at the cinemas that are not enhanced by the big screen big sound experience. For example i see no point in see Fokers do anything on the big screen because there is no cinema experience factor.
RAY on the other hand should be well enhanced.

werd. At first the unique narrative style and direction shat me, but it grew on me, and the cinematography was indeed dope, drew me in, and some clever references to other iconic and cult films set in Mexico, ie amaros p.
I dare say Denzel's best. although there is almost a bit of a lolita vibe about some shots/themes.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and confess my mass teenage nerdiness, but I just bought the first season of Babylon 5 on DVD for 50 bucks. 900 odd minutes of sci-fi that shits all over any other series at the time ie. Star Trek, and is still not that bad today! What grabbed me is like it was Casablanca in space, one part space stuff, two parts political intrigue. Ahhh the memories. Now I've only gotta get the other 4 seasons, plus the 5 movies...that's a lot of geekiness to contend with...I'll be all rolled up in a fetal position by the time I'm done with 'em all
Oh, and btw, big ups Man On Fire. Dope flick. Brilliant cinematography and editing.
...Big-up my mum for getting me the original Italian Job on DVD for $15...the re-make aint worth the plastic its rapped in. You might be able to replace the old Cooper-S with the new one but you can't replace E-Type Jags, Astin Martins and especially Michael Caine and Benny Hill.
On the flip...Michael Caine in Jaws 4...wtf???
PS....Has anyone seen Death Race 2000 around or Two-Lane Blacktop....meaning they haven't had to get them from Indonesia or Thailand???

Death Race 2000 did have Australian distribution. I had it in stock at my last shop, but can't remember for the life of me who the distie was. All I remember was that it had a godawful transfer, as well as pan and scan, no widescreen. It was cheap too, think it originally had an RRP of $20...must be cheaper than that now surely. Good flick though, Sly Stallone and David Carradine in possibly the worst roles of their lives
