Baroq!!! New Club Opening Soon

Post by dubs »

Inspired by the 17th Century western art movement that nurtured an abundance of creativity to produce dramatic, romantic, exuberant and magnificent expressions of art from sculpture, canvas, literature and music, this controversially provocative venue design delivers a sensory richness of drama, grandeur, vitality, tension, and emotional tenor that appeals artistically inclined patrons.

A feature of Baroq is its amazing sculptures- larger than life figurines of Baucus and Philemon- legendary characters of ancient myth.

Visitors to Baroq will leave in awe, their experience shaped in part by the stunning visual mastery and works of art, both inside the venue and adorning the entire exterior wall.

However, this is not 17th Century Florence, and so Baroq will also exude a warmth and casualness more akin to the 21st Century Melbourne.

Opening soon. Check back for more updates. For up coming guest list. Please let Adam know by posting to reply or emailing at [email protected]

The security staff are trained in standarised testing. Each patron will be required to complete the following before entry
- Numerical reasoning test
- Verbal reasoning test
- Myers Briggs
- IQ test
- EQ test

Plus each patron will also be required to read my new book

I like the sound of it... I was obsessed with C17th and C18th century france when I was a teenager, probably more the rococo than the baroque, but hey... it's all very interesting. The clothes and the music and the debauched pre-revolution lifestyle in general, all going on in the midst of the Enlightenment, I couldn't get enough of it (not that I support the subjugation of the proletariat, mind). I loved the clothes so much I had did masqued ball for my yr 11 communication project and we all hired these mad costumes from MTC and the state opera. I was so bored when I had to go back to wearing jeans again. I was born in the wrong era.

I'll be interested to check this place out.

Sounds interesting. But if it's too decked out, I'd be too afraid to touch anything.

How about we wait and see what the venue is like for ourselves rather than condem it on this discription?

What is the music policy going to be?

Come on people fair go alright. Its just not for people in suits. Let me explain, its a themed club right, which is the 17th century art movement. I used intelligent as a word cause it interacts with the theme. Im not saying that only suits will get in. Come on people.

Considering the amount of splash you have dedicated to looks I would be interested to know what sort of attention has been paid to the sound system, and to soundproofing....

It would be a shit for an expensive place like that to be closed down for lack of forward planning in the noise department

Be interesting to see what music gets a look in. Surely by promoting it on there you'd expect some kind of broken beats and not more farhken house dribble.

The joint looks absolutely awesome!!!!!

Not sure on it's appeal to 90% of the peeps on this forum, but it's a great idea all the same.

And dubs, do you mean THE Valve System?

Dress code would have to apply to suit-ish types wouldn't it?

Sounds like an awesome place for a different night out to what I'm used to. Obviously depending on the music.... I'd rather just have background music as opposed to pop/prog house. But that's just me.

Oh, just to clarify why I posted the link to that article... The Age states that the idea behind LVX is to get people to pay a monthly fee to become members.

I had never heard of this type of thing happening in Melbourne before, which is why the name LVX stuck in my head from reading that article.
The Age wrote:"What we're doing is unique, it's different, and we're going out there and targeting an upper-end clientele base," Mr Khier said.
If the Melbourne Beats community is considered to be amongst the upper-echelon of society, then bring it. :)

doesn't alleviate my concern really

whats the point in the best soundsystem in the world if you havent spent a penny on soundproofing?

It would be a really bad way to go, undercutting yourself and costing more later if it hasn't been considered in the onset

the more you throw at a sound system, the more you need in terms of acoustic treatments...

might be worth a read:

http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/rsrc/PD ... ne2006.pdf

would be very interest to know what apporach has been taken... maybe you dont know but someone should be thinking about it

Hey man,

I'm not having a 'tiff', I'm all up for new ideas and I think ur idea rocks. I'm just wondering in what way does your club 'appeal to the intelligent'?

It's a genuine question. I'm interested?

Thanks
