Well my favourites would have to be:

DMC Records, Commercial Road South Yarra.
Breaks/dnb/minimal/house etc Chat to Karl out the back for your breaks/dnb needs.

Mixed Bad Records, Church St Richmond.
Another great record store, awesome selection of all things house, electro. Will even make you a cup of tea.

Slap Records, 10/60 Langridge St Collingwood.
Minimal/Electro/House/Techno etc etc. There's a thread on here where they post their recent releases.

Vinyl Warning, Victoria St, Richmond
Also an online store, pretty large selection of everything, cheapest record shop in Melbourne it would seem. Up to date and wide selection of breaks.

Alley Tunes, Hawthorn
Best 2nd hand record shop in Melbourne.

Few others around. Rhythm and Soul are just pushy, will try to sell you the biggest hits etc etc. But always worth a browse I suppose.

Not exactly CBD, but:

Quality Records: Glenferrie Rd, Malvern has a nice diverse selection.

...and of course, the usual haunts already mentioned...
